Haven't really played much in a while, so I forgot how to replace skins. Anyone wanna help?

get half life model viewer, open the p_armorvest_new, go to textures, easy mode from there on out...

I recall doing it like that, i could be wrong though, but it did work for me when i tried it once with one of his earliest armor skins.

D:\Steam\SteamApps\yourname\half-life\msc\models\weapons\p_weapons3.mdl

It uses submodels 45-48, turn additive off, the texture you want to replace is named icebow.bmp.

use the import texture button to slap on the texture of your choice.

backup your pweapons file before saving or backup icebow.bmp then save over pweapons3

I don't understand why it's not working. Aside from not knowing what that additive thing is, I was able to replace the texture and then save the model back into the msc models folder with the same name as p_weapons3

Do you perhaps have duplicate MSC folders?

One in: %steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\msc and another in %steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\<your_user_name>\Half-Life\msc ?

...perhaps you are editing the one under your user name, under the new update, to no avail?

Oh yeah. Anyway, got it to work. Apparently you guys forgot to mention it needs to be done on P_weapons3 and viewmodel.

Oh, yeah... Viewmodel... *d'oh!*

Hell, probably *just* the viewmodel, as you probably aren't going to be seeing it in third person a lot.

I call it the Manaburnt Bow

maybe default attack would do magic damage and have chance of applying some magic dot

I have two ideas for attacks for this bow, some sort of mana tether that you click on a target and you are tethered to the enemy and so long as you have mana, the enemy is afflicted with all the debuffs associated with all the dots, attack and move speed decrease, damage taken increase, whatever lightning dot does, this would do no damage though just debuff enemies so long as you had mana

My idea for a second attack was a ring of magical fire that did magic or dark damage, you shoot the bow and at the point of impact a ring of fire slowly expands, the radius depending on your sc level? and as long as you had mana the ring would be sustained, maybe be able to do multiple rings at increasing cost, 100% default cost for keeping up one, 250% for two etc.

I like the idea for the bow, it would be awesome if the secondary attack did dark damage.

Hello, it's been a while hasn't it?

I call it the Thunderdrinker, it's supposed to be a lightning charged blooddrinker,

I brainstormed some ideas for how this thing might work, A first charge stab that is a short range tiny aoe lightning burst, the throw would be replaced with a tornado spell, and a right click circle of lightning circle.

I love the tornado idea. I've wanted a "summon tornado" spell for years. This should also have a "rage" mode that temporarily speeds up your attack like swift blade, but makes thunder sounds when you slash.

Well, we do need a new lightning sword.

Not sure if I can pull the tornado bit without it getting very crashy, but maybe able to come up with some other stuff to compensate - lightning shield zappy bubble maybe.

Bit hesitant to add any new items at the moment though, as the last three new half-assed items inspired so much "gimme nao" that someone reverse engineered our script system, and probably our memory encryption as well. Patches are kinda on hold until I at least plug that hole, as with that, you can do pretty much anything, and, unless you went overboard, it'd be hard to get caught (plus you could literally destroy servers, and even FN). It's gonna take awhile, as the culprit hasn't stepped forwards to give me details on how he did it - and the guy who knows who it is, ain't spillin' the beans either.

I might release a small interim server side patch to allow skycastle to run proper and a few other minor fixes, but without "that guy's" help, I suspect this project will take a few months, at least, especially since I can't seem to get ahold of MiB, and this is heavy code side stuff.
