Aruc cringed at the vile taste of the antidote. The normal antidotes that the apothecary had been selling did very little against the poisonous mist that was covering every inch of his town, but the apothecary made Aruc a special, concentrated dose. The yellow wand that had been stuffed into his belt was drawn and began to glow brightly. Aruc's hair stood out slightly as the wand grew brighter. He walked forth into the cave and was eventually consumed by the darkness.

Apanace, the Apothecary strolled along the cliffs surrounding the town, running his fingers along the deep cracks that spewed this poison. The smell of burning bodies was overpowering, and if it weren't for the poisons, Apanace would have stuck his head inside the cracks for a bit of fresh air. Not like it mattered, anyway. He, along with everyone else in the town, had been inflicted with this terrible venom, and the only hope was that Aruc would be able to put a stop to the foul demon spreading the miasma and find something to generate a better cure.

Footsteps approached on the inside of the cave. Apanace couldn't see in, but he was able to hear the sound of electricity flying. "Aruc!" He cried out "Aruc, can you hear me?" His cries were met with a heavy thud against the wall.

"Y.. yes Apanace.." said Aruc. "I've found the beast responsible, but he's too powerful.. It's too late for me, but someday, someone may be able to stop this new dji.." There was a scraping sound as Aruc's body slid to the ground.

---------

Welcome to the nightmarish town of Ailairium. There will be no rest for those foolish enough to enter this doomed little town, as you will quickly find out that you are one of the doomed, too. Your only chance for survival is to slay the beast and create an anti-venom.

This map is currently being made by Blasto as part of my map series (Mysterious!). I've just made this thread to put the background and because he's too lazy. I'll let him take it from here ;-)

when I finish this map its going to take more than some cobra skin to save you. :D

*UPDATE*

-Pics-

This first pic is an overview of what the map will semi look like, its mostly rough layout for now, the start area is the only thing that won't change much considering I have been spending a lot of time on it. Either way all the big parts are labeled.

screen2.jpg

the second pic is what the entrance to the level will look like, its a sort of buffer zone to protect those lower levels from getting raped after spawning in. Oh and this is a hammer screen shot if you didn't notice.

questions? Comments? Do I care what you think? these are all things that your welcome to post about. :D

No antidote will save you, and no amount of equipment will save you. You may think that you'll be able to exploit this, but trust me, you won't.

I didn't know using equipment available in the game was exploiting.

Getting off topic, this sounds like its gonna be a great map.

Using equipment meant for stopping normal, weak poison to try to stop an advanced disease that has poison properties. If it worked, I'd consider it an exploit, but, it won't.

I definitely cared. Now get off the thread if you aren't contributing anything.

All I got was: You want a new type of affliction which can bypass the resistance of a Cobra skin vest. That's like saying "I want an more advance fire which can bypass the resistance of your Fire Lizard vest. If the vest does it's meant to do (resist fire), it's an exploit."

The Cobra Vest blocks poison, this is an advanced virus/disease. If it really helps you: Phoenix armor blocks fire, but it doesn't block lava. It's the same thing here, just that my bypass is intentional.

EDIT: I should say, it's intentional IN A WAY. See, the only way to make this work is going to bypass it of it's own accord. I want it to bypass, but if I didn't want it to, I would have no choice.

why can't you just keep it simple?

cobra vest fights contact poisons

this is a gas poison, thus cobra skin = no help against it.

unless it has a built in re-breather and I didn't know.

Its just like how Cobra Vest doesn't protect against Acid Cloud (that red poison cloud type thing Valdor and Venevus use).

Granted, it does stop disease. (ie. Zombie disease) Or rather, it provides a 75% damage reduction.

I might re-rig it to reduce acid damage too.

Oh darn.

Ya know, if ya want, I can make an acid rain type weather affect that does properly defined damage to everyone.

Granted, trigger_hurt wouldn't spam your health hud. But it also won't stop you from healing.

It won't? Sh*t! That's the whole reason for it >_<

Anyway you can make something to hurt that stops rejuv and doesn't spam? :D

Could just do a slowed down damage so that it doesn't spam but is quick enough to not let them get Rejuv out.

Better have a big time pot dealer somewhere in the village. ;)

I don't think I can send real-game damage without spamming the hud a little, and if I don't send damage often enough, you'll be able to sneak in hits of rejuivinate.

I could, however, make a blanket effect for the map that you cannot use divine magic until the curse or whatever is lifted.

Sneaking in a hit of rejuv isn't that bad. If you want to waste your time trying to get the timing right to get one shot of rejuv, more power to ya ;-)

I'll leave the final decision up to Blasto. I'm sure everyone will breathe a sigh of relief knowing that my normal BASTARDLY ideas aren't being in (I have a way to make a quest harder to start than the bloodstone quest :D)

This no rejuvenation crap might work out if health pots worked more than half the time.
