I just bought a game like this about amonth ago. Doesn't look nor seem to play half as good as this will. You can expect me playing this along side TF2 and SC2.

Wow. First Valve let people get Portal for free (for a few days at least) for the release of the Mac crossplay. Now another game that will also be free. They seem to be pretty generous as well as the TF2 updates which are free. Altough it doesn't seem to be my type of game. I may try it at one point though.
Portal was only free if you installed Steam on a Mac.

The kid who did the anims for the original models also did some of the anims for Wizard Wars. Never did find out what happened to him. Last I heard he was working on an RPG for UT2004, but it fell through.
We used to LAN this thing here, was very good for LAN games. Dunno how well it'd work for general on-line play though.

Valve can release what the hell they want but nothing will make up for the serious lack of Half-Life 2: Episode Three.
I don't know why so many people whine about HL2: Ep3, just look at how long it took TF2 to be released, and that had people waiting for it for nearly 8 years! Valve will release it when they damn well please, and when they think it's ready.
I still cant figure why people eat this epÃsodic bull, just make HL3 and stop this crap.

TBH, l4d sucked balls, im pretty sure hl2 episode 3 would be a bigger success by far, hell i even heard it beat the favourited Halo series of games back in the day when i was reading a magazine comparing both games. And i do consider Halo a fucking awesome game just like half life 2, they both entertain me with single player storylines. Sometimes people just pick multiplayers games over singleplayer which leads to the conclusion that they would prefer l4d over episode3.
If they start working on half life 3, which i read a few days ago on gamespot in the news section. It will suck ass seeing the episode 3 not being possibly released within the next few years, and from what i heard, half life 3 development might come earlier, which means = dead project unless they move the storyline.

I remember reading somewhere that the episodes were considered to be HL3, so naturally if they made a full sequel it'd be HL4... maybe? hmmm

Near as I can tell, Valve's sacked their entire HL2 team, otherwise they wouldn't need to be borrowing mods like Alien Swarm, produced by other teams, and release them as "bonus content". Hell, there's even a rumor that Michael Shapiro croaked (Barney/G-man), and some of their other voice actors are a lot older than him.
Near as I can tell, they dropped the episodic idea, and decided to make a new engine for EP3, and the last time Valve decided to make a new engine, it took a decade.
L4D was pretty good IMO, but I don't think the HL2 team had anything to do with it - it was Turtle Rock studios that got assimilated by Valve, rather. (Granted, L4D2 was rather redundant.)

What? Everyone has their preferences, and i have been sticking with halo since the start so i dont get the funny thing about my appreciation with the bungie games but OK, im happy for you. It's just like everyone has their preferences of most awesome games, i do like halo in many ways, the worst in it is xbox live gameplay, full of annoying grown ups with no life and mic spamming kids. Then again, if it makes you any happier, i could say Gear of war 2 is also awesome but i still prefer halo over gow.
About the episode 3 thingy, i do know its a rare thing to happen in the near future without it being in a new engine. Then again they are working on portal 2, just wished they could work with episode 3 while at it but it isnt happening :/
