Yes, MSS is still alive. Progress is being made, however slowly. Valve didn't make it easy, it's like trying to untangle a big ball of Christmas lights, and that ball is resting on top of a Jenga tower.

Right now I'm working on the UI code, and it's a mess. I'm posting ongoing updated to my Dev Journal if you're interested.
