Whenever I click the first screenshot, my screen gets really fuzzy somehow, so I can't comment on that.
Second screenshot: yeah that looks pretty good. But the lighting on the ceiling looks really odd. It's like the torch on the far left gives a lot more light than the torch on the left closest to the player.
Third screenshot: I really hope that's not supposed to be a table. Also: ducking while creating screenshots can create a neat effect, but in this case it makes the room feel really oversized.

Not sure why the torch lighting looks messed up, and yeah thats a table and a 5 second chair, ( 3rd pic was a little outdated), but the whole map is a little oversized

Compile with -nowadtextures/-wadautodetect or -wadinclude people. Porting 300MB wad packages is not convenient. ;)

yeah paper and i just tried beta testing and discovered this, will using those commands let people see my textures? (I made a few for catacombs2) or will it just let them join without the wad?

If you HLCSG compile the map with the first two, it'll take all the textures that the map uses from your wad files and stick them inside the BSP. You will have to give them new copies of the BSP though.

In other news, today i spent awhile optimizing, such a pain
remade transition to catacombs 3, looks hawt (in game) now:

Epic lighting, which you cant see in Hammer, and also the huge stalagmite is half invisible with a zombie frozen inside (in-game)

I tried using -nowadtextures and all that, accidentally overwrit my bsps with old versions, hammer didnt like it and **** itself over, i freaked out and restored windows, it removed hammer's settings, and i cant open my maps anymore

if i try to open a map, it says "there was an error sending the command to the program", but the map opens,
then
whenever i try running/compiling it, it spams errors

help :oldcry:

Link map files so I can try?

Link BSP + RMF + RMX

RMX is actually just a backup of your RMF - it maybe the one ya that went missing on ya.

I can rip textures from the BSP if compiled with -nowadtextures and/or -wadinclude. Even if this is not the case, I've so many effing textures I'm not liable to be missing many, and can get it to compile.

However, won't be able to get to it until, meh.... Over a dozen hours. >_>

In anycase, HL Mapping Golden Rule: Jesus saves and so should you.
(Make a back up RMF every time you successfully compile, at the very least.)

HOW

I use GFCScape for that. Install and run, open your map file and then just take what you need.

Yeah, i tried running with -nowadtextures and -wadautodetect before, and then the whole thing messed up, now i just ran it with -wadinclude allinone2.wad and it seems to be working fine

I'll get the uploads tomorrow cause i'm leaving for a few hours




also- biking 10 miles definitely removes stress :wink:

I use Quark myself, but it's a pain to configure... But you can use GCFScape, as Dridge mentioned, or BSPViewer, or Wintextract (although that last one tends to fubar palettes sometimes.)

:\ Odd... Maybe wad path is configured funky, or some such.

Looks great and all, but I think it's such a waste to make it a low-mid level serie... Nightmare_CATacombs anyone :roll: ?
On the other hand, this might be a good place to put a low-mid level polearm there, but I fear it would die once everyone has the loot there since all the noobs level way too fast.
Like, how many 600+ players has ever been to lostcaverns?
