Coming Changes

By now most everyone should know that I am now running the Central Server. Because of this some things will be changing, like the address that connects you to the Central Server. The reason, fuzzy would like to have his address back so I will be changing it to my own so he can use his. I may also change the password, however there isn't much reason to change the password if it's public.

Besides that not a whole lot will change, I may change the name to BlastNet just because well it would stay true to the naming convention. The server will continue to function like normal, Thothie will still have the ability to do character restores in my absence, and I will also be giving Fuzzy the same power.

Reguarding backups, I will be increasing the number of backups to 4 times a day starting at 6AM -8GMT every six hours another backup will happen, so that would be 6AM, 12PM, 6PM, and 12AM. Offsite backups to Thothies server will remain the same, 6AM and 6PM -8GMT. I have an 80 gig HDD dedicated to backups so if need be I could decrease the interval to 3 hours, but that just might be overkill.

I plan on making this as painless as possible, I will be giving 1 week for the switch, hopefully this can be done with zero downtime. I will be updating this page with all the new information, and will be editing all previous announcements and posts with the new information as things change.

I haven't gotten everything figured out quite yet right now, but don't worry I will be giving plenty of notice when things start changing.

*UPDATE*

I have bound a new address to my IP, it would be greatly appreciated if people could test the address to make sure that servers can connect to it.

so in the fuznet.cfg file please change

ms_central_addr	"cboat.mine.nu:5711"

to

ms_central_addr	"blastnet.bounceme.net:5711"

Please report all findings here.

EDIT: Worked fine on my server, however people did not connect; but at least it's directed correctly

I did changed it the day you posted it. It kept kicking players off the server. on the next update that should be included.

odd its just the address for connecting to the central server it should not affect anything more than that...

either way where people able to choose there characters when they joined there server?

I can't use the old address for to long, fuzzyfish does want it back at some point.
