CRASH when dealing TOO MUCH DAMAGE?

For some reason my game crashes when there are like 4/5 burning ashes and I shoot a fire ball into the group. They all get damaged and when I shoot again the game locks up.

it usually doesn't on my server...but thats cause its uber >_>

mmm, magic does that because of all the skeletons getting the glowwy things around them and it calculating damages and such all of a sudden. thothies betapack helps with this (you are running it right?)

it may also help to disable unnecessary amx modules and plugins and close unnecessary programs while you play ;)

Are you playing with the latest beta patch? i know that was a big issue in the last version, and it seems to be fixed in this one. the problem was with the damage over time part of the spell, and if you casted twice they would stack, and the game would be like "OMG" and crash.. in the latest patch the damage over time part of the second spell will not be applied, unless the first one has expired.

No no no.

I have the latest beta _H, I was in Thornlands, the walking ashes respawned and there were like 4, I shot one fire ball and then when the fire effect died off, I shot 2 causing 2/4 to fall down and be ko'ed.

When they got up I shot again and boom crash.

beta_H is pretty old (it's been around in all versions for at around six months) - do you have the september 14th patch?

There should be a cap on the #glows and FX you got going (damage still applies, but fx become invisible)... I suspect it is not working perfectly, as every once in while I still get no free edict errors. In anycase, 4 skelles certainly shouldn't be enough to cause it.

The effeciency/power/lack of moduels running on your computer won't help much, if at all. The #edicts HL1 can handle is fixed.
