Critical hits

Upon scoring a 100 on the misschance, perhaps we should get a critical hit for 2x damage.

perhaps certain weapons could have more critical range, and certain weapons would do special attacks on criticals. could be a nice way to make new weapons/monsters strong in a way other than making them slow things down.

whats everyone think?

I agree. Weapons should have "mastery levels" (like 4 levels), each giving an additional bonus (stat wise or special effect like critical hits)

hmmm, yeah, maybe you can only get critical hits after a certain level, just like how MA has the different levels of kick, each level of critical can give you an increased multiplier, or critical range - depending on the weapon type.

i think these levels would fit well at...

critical hits start at level 12, your critical power increases every 8 levels.

so, at level 12 - this happens..

(100/xx) CRITICAL! (damage x2)

and level 20 - this...

(97/xx) CITICAL! (damage x2.5)

and level 28...

(93/xx) CRITICAL! (damage x3)

you see where this is going...every 8 levels the critical range increases by your current range +1 (double +1) and the damage multiplier increases by .5

I love it which brings me to another idea:
We know (Or I think.) how the proficiency is kinda useless in Archery? How about each time we level our proficiency in Archery, the likely chances of making a critical hit increase by 1 number :O
Example: Proficiency level | hitchance number
lvl 1 = #1
lvl 2 = #1 and 2
lvl 3 = #1, 2, and 3
and so on.

because with 22 archery you would have a 22% chance of a critical hit, thats quite a bit. (unless i read that wrong)...

maybe archery could have its critical range increase by (Crit range +3) instead of (Crit range +1) every 8 levels...or it could be the same as other weapons, as that could overpower it really quickly

yea, your reading it right, +1% critical increase per lvl would be a bit much, maybe every other lvl then? :\

up to thoth to decide, but i think its better to have it go up a bunch every 8th level, gives people a level to work for in a stat - instead of a gradual increase thats barely noticeable.

What is the use for Proficiency and Balance now anyway? The only thing that really matters is that your power levels up. Having proficiency directly proportional to your critical hit chance would be great :D

I think it should be set at Lvl 20 and up, the higher lvls need more benifits!

Meh, few issues:
1) It'd have to be done on the hard-code side. (always dicey)
2) It'd probably rob you of XP (as ramping damage up does sometimes)
3) (the big one) I'd have to go through, and re-balance all the monsters to compensate for the extra damage.

multiply all monster hp by 10%? It would only be worth balancing at higher levels, and the only monsters it would really affect are boss mobs. Ya don't want a player getting a 6-10k critical on a boss mob that only has 12k hp. But for bosses you can just make them multi stage, like the ICB. Code wise.... yeah.... I'm sorry, prolly not gonna happen there. I would love to see it in though. (I would love to see titles actually doing something, such as the theif titles getting more crit chance, and mage titles getting +spell damage percents, but again... more hard code).
