I've always wanted to model. Seeing all these other first attempts inspired me, so I decided to give it a try. Its much easier then I thought it would be.
I started easy by making a simple sword.

I couldn't get the mesh smothness to my liking =/. Good enough I guess.

Good job, looks a lot better than other people's first modeling attempts.

What's the poly count?

That still looks pretty good.

If I actually had any free time, I might... Iunno. Eviction kinda robs you of free time.

Use different smoothing groups for differetns parts of the blade, that way it will looks sharper.

Also could you post the wireframe?

Yeah. It was my first sword, I was having trouble figuring out how to make it look better. I'll fix it or make another soon.

Wireframes (with and without smoothing):

Thats pretty good. I wish I could learn 3dsmax because it would take the hassle outta' making detailed models but I can't stand how they have the 2d grids setup + It's got all these other features I know nothing about. I'll stick with milkshape3d for now until I get better at that. Keep up the work btw.

Thanks fellas =)

@Skunk: 3dsmax has a hell of a lot of features for sure. Staying with milkshape would definitely keep things simple. This is gonna take me quite awhile to master, but holy crap am I loving all of the features and flexibility.
