My information.
For those who might be interested, I have rented out a CS1.6 server for a month (20 slot, located in New York, New Jersey: it'll appear at 19 slot until it fills to that point).

For those interested in games other than NS & MSC (*cough*MiB*cough*), it'd be cool to see you play this now & then. It is up 24/7, good ping, stable, reliable sever setup (some friends over xfire have been using gameservers for some time now, with no problems or complaints).

The server manager I appointed it going to add in some custom plugins at some point in time, and he handles complaints & the sorts. So if you guys do decide to play there (an MSC regulars meeting on a CS server would be most amusing), and you run into a hacker (omgz!?), just seek a guy by the alias of "Mark Sharpy" (as you can guess, being HL, I met him on TSRP... and am still using my TSRP site as the base of operations, pending my forums coders change it to a more suitable domain).

Server-Name: stfu 'n shoot - [In Works]
Server IP+Port: 208.167.248.68:27015

Those who aren't interested... please, just don't post in this thread.

And no, I'm not advertising my server (for another mod), per-say.... I'm just providing a reasonable area to display fast-action gameplay for those in need of a "fix" from the slug-paced gameplay on MSC (even if doing the bloodring quest is incredibly fun, despite being horrendously slow-paced, I still need "fixes" now & then on CS or NS, too). 8)

I hate CS.

I wouldn't bother saying this, except that CS is infecting all my other mods.

It infected NS and gave us CO.

It infected TF2 and gave us Last Man Standing and huge respawn times.

Bleh. To each his own, but please, keep it to yourselves, damnit. ;)

Seriously, I wanna quit seeing multi-player games that punish you for sucking by making you unable to play, and continuously award the winning team by making them even more powerful.

CO isn't that bad ;-) Certainly nice to have a shoot 'em up break from all the stratemegizin' that often happens in NS :p (Relocate under the hive!)

I tend to play nothing but CO maps in NS, I don't really like normal NS. Everyone is usually a jerk. Well at least as an alien that is, I can handle being a marine.

I, likewise, usually play co_* for Natural Selection. There are too many little kids who don't get teamwork for ns_* maps to be fun, more often than not. In a co_* map, I can at least cover the assault & support roles all on my own (HMG, resupply, welder).

As to CS... you didn't need to post that you disliked it, Thothie... -_-
This thread & the server I rented are for people who want a place to play a quick game, and blow off some steam... if it's such a problem about the winning team always getting stronger... I'll find a decent amxx balancing plugin.

The reason you have little kids who don't understand teamplay in NS - is because of CO. :p

Agreed,

And agreed. I seriously hate CS for it's ever growing childish community, and those people are usually in high school or college. Almost 99% CS servers consists of 10 year old admins with mics who ban you for saying "wtf" on a no-swear server. I finally found a server who didn't tolerate such retardedness but I never saw that server again.

NS was destroyed with CO, I was never able to find a normal NS server without the CO *ssholes who would ruin the game (The aliens would always lose, no one ever wanted to actually build anything).

I guarantee you... my server manager, nor I, will ban over saying "wtf". If you say something extremely racist, or start fights to piss others off, you could get banned... but venting during a bad game, because of a hacker, or something... is entirely tolerable. :)

Funny, I never liked NS before CO, and only started playing NS after CO, and I found the server I always play on. I've tried NS multiple times, sometimes with bots, sometimes with other players, and never liked it. I guess I could try one of the 32 person servers or something to see how it goes, but meh.

Also, I don't like CS unless it's CSDM. I'm a deathmatch style fanatic. I likes me the fast-paced shooting.

You don't need a 32 person server for a good NS game. Go to Jiggly's (16 person) for some fun games ;-)

Jiggly's fun, with players of various skill levels coming in and out. Smaller amounts of players are a lot more fun, although it does stress your personal skill a lot more than in a huge game.

I've played NS since it was first released and I've played CS since beta 7. I've also played DoD since b1.0, and yeah, I've seen CS infect both DoD and NS. DoD with the para maps and NS with combat. The infections didn't turn out completely horrible, though. Some were actually enjoyable to play for a while, since it gave more variety to the game.

But yeah I usually leave once jiggly goes to a combat map, just because it starts out all fine and equal at the beginning, but then usually goes lopsided pretty quickly due to the players' skill on a team. I play under the alias Garbage the Cat.

As for CS, I usually play it with my family cause my cousin can usually carry a team, but I'd rather play one of those CSDM things where you'd respawn in a random zone every time. I don't know, it just seems more fun that way since you'd have to actually keep moving around the map and going around in groups. It kind of brings back some nostalgia of DoD realism for me, although it's more like a hyper and somewhat unrealistic version of it.

32 players shoots the balance to hell on NS. It's really designed for 12.

12 is only good if all the players are orginized and l337 though. Ya need 16 or so for a Pug. You can go up to 18 before it becomes pure chaos. After 18 the resource management goes to hell. So you kinda have a narrow range of people you can have for a solid NS game.

Very small games ( under 8 ) force the marines to use rush tactics to maintain the resource war and prevent the second hive, and are ruined if the aliens pull an early Onos (a major NS fo-pah in small games, commonly pulled by nubs in pugs), as there's no way for three marines to fend off a half-way decent Onos on multiple fronts, without Jetpack/HMG's.

Ah, this reminds me of the few fun games I played on NS... I went onos, the aliens had all 3 hives, and I charged the CC and took out all the IPs... That was a pretty fun game, because I was playing with my clanmates (who are all pretty good players, more or less). So, Thoth, send me a message when you join a server and I'd be apt to join you.

Thothie - any good comm can have HMGs way before Onos, and likely have JP close after if not before.

Not in a game with less than 8 players (3 marines, 1 commander). Aliens get res way too fast. Even if you do have the HMG's, ye ain't gonna have them at level 3, and they won't stop the Onos if you only got 3 active marines to wield them (even if they can, you aren't gaining any ground that way). Two onos can swallow half your team. Tis why only nubs Onos in small games (and the ocasionally angry drunk l337).
