In the Netherlands there's this pathetic 'organization' called the "Bond tegen vloeken" which translates to "Association against cursing". Basically it's a group of mostly religious idiot fanatics who act like crybabies whenever curses (god damn it, jesus christ, etc.) and/or cuss words (s***, f***, a**, etc.) are heard on television.
Now a bunch of them are basically assaulting Comedy Central (which is also being aired here in the Netherlands) because of South Park and (mainly) Family Guy. Apparently there's a Family Guy marathon coming up on Comedy Central on the 19th and 20th of June. I had no idea because I never watch Family Guy, so I couldn't care less.
I am, however, concerned about the idiots of the Bond tegen vloeken. Why? They've started a petition in which they ask the following:
1) Comedy Central must alter their programming of shows on the 19th and 20th of June.
2) Comedy Central may not broadcast Family Guy and South Park before 23:00.
3) Comedy Central must accept a 'behavior code' in which they state they'll reduce and monitor the amount of bad words.
4) Comedy Central must publicly acknowledge that they are aware of the objections against cursing that live with "a large amount of civilians" in the Netherlands.
Being a huge fan of South Park, I am quite offended by a petition this dumb. Fortunately, you can also go to the petition website and declare that you disagree with it. I haven't done that yet, because I just stumbled across this link, which shows how many people agreed (green text) and disagreed (red text).
As you can see, the vast majority is already disagreeing with the religious fanatics garbage petition.
The reasons? It's god damn stupid and the most popular weblog of the Netherlands, GeenStijl (every Dutch person knows what GeenStijl is), has posted a link to the petition on their front page, asking people to vote against it. Why? Because it's god damn stupid.
So that's dumb poll: 0 - GeenStijl & people who like entertaining television: 1
Just had to post this because I think it's awesome.
Are there religious fanatics in your country trying to block cuss words as well y/n? Discuss!
