Hello,

As the title says, i don't know if much people says the old (the inventory now) is a bit lame so i thought it coud be a bit more in it so i created a new one and i don't like the scrolling either. So here are my ideas in pictures :p
Heres how my Character look like:

And here the Inventory now:

And here what i created (i know my drawing sucks but i made it with paint :p) :

As you see at the Quiver,i think there could be more slots for shields and other things for the back
The Pet will be there instant not able to pick out (i thought of being able to see its stats)
Weapon Slot #1 will be for One-Handed and Two Handed Swords
Weapon Slot #2 will be for Shields,Pelts, etc
Ring Slots for Bloodstone Ring,Electric Potion or Felewyn Light
Armor Slot is for every armor u wear at the moment (like i did there with my aob)
Helmet Slot is for the helmet you wear at the moment

So yea what do you think about it?

Not bad for a Paint drawing, but what I'd like to see is:

  • some picture/chart/schematic that clearly illustrates how many back/shoulder/waist/finger slots you have, which ones are occupied (and with what) and which ones are available
  • the option to split up arrow/bolt stacks into separate stacks (so if you have 500 bbs, you can choose to split it into 200 + 300, so you can give 200 to a friend)
  • items that are identical should be stacked and there should be a small number appearing in the icon that says how many of such items you have (otherwise you need to constantly mouse-over icons to see how many of such item you have), because scrolling through 50 pots is just annoying
  • smaller ****ing icons, they're 10x too big; this again leads to having to scroll a lot
  • unique/better icons for every item (why do the snake staff and HotD look like packages?)
  • the names of items equipped on char (packs/rings/armor) should be closer to each other; I don't think that scrollbar would be necesssary if the item names weren't so far away
  • if you hover over a mana / HP pot, you should see how many uses it has left
  • if you hover over an item, you should see what skills / stats it requires (this should go for everything; i.e. armor/weapons/spells/charms)
  • easier quick-select menu for weapons and spells (both scroll/tome)
  • some way to quickly switch between helmet/armor type
  • a way of 'telling' an item in which container it should always automatically go
  • auto-arrangement of items in your containers in a way that you choose (example: weapons first, then tomes, then armor, then quest items)

Sadly, we've no coder who can work out the crazy custom GUI.

No, but nor has he been able to make heads nor tails of the GUI, aside from initiating it as it stands where needed. No one else has been able to figure it out either.

why not just completely remove the GUI? and let him write his own? well of course unless he doesnt want to do something like that. but... from my experience any kind of game design you do for free is because you enjoy it. i dont know.

"He doesn't know how to make any of these buildings."
"Why not just burn them all down and then make the buildings from scratch?"

Well, I think he wants you to build your own city next to the existing city - either that, or stretch metaphors beyond all recognition. ;)

Not when I don't even know even have enough know-how to build upon the current system. Building something new when you have 0 clue how the old stuff works is pretty impossible. Plus, you'd have to deal with making sure the new system is compatible with the old system, lest you have to go through every GUI reference (and there are a lot) and rewrite how they work, too.
