I've been having the oddest problem.
I just recently switched to a wireless network.
I have a USB Port Signal Receiver plugged in to the back of my rig.

Now, randomly, I'll be disconnected to the internet for a few seconds.
This happens every couple of minutes.
Its not so much a problem with most things.
but, like in Warcraft 3, if I'm on battle.net, its enough to disconnect me from the game.

Any help or feedback from anyone is most appreciated.

Could be a number of things...

Your USB wireless card sucks...
You need newer drivers for your card...
Your wireless router sucks...
You need newer firmware for your router...
Your computer is in a place that gets poor reception...

Take your pick, try things out.

I don't have a wireless card, only the usb connector.
My computer is about 15 feet from the router, with nothing but two walls in the way.

We don't have a home phone line.

Everyone else gets find reception, so I dont think its the router.

Firmware? Not familiar with the term.

Even though I don't have a wireless internet card, is it possible that I need newer drivers for the USB adaption?

Might also try setting up a static IP. Some wireless try to constantly assign you new IP's for some reason and fux up.

For Firmware, you'll have to find the website of the folks who made your wireless USB thingie. Basically, Firmware BIOS update for components.

I have found sometimes it helps to put those USB thingies on the end of USB cables, to serve as antennae (plus you can flop them around until you position the thing for the best signal).

Sounds like a USB wireless card to me.

It's the software stored on a device that it uses to run; it's stored in non-volatile memory.

Go to the manufacturer's website, then their should be a downloads section where you can look up the product and get the latest drivers.
