Master Sword a free mmorpg, is looking for a Volunteer Modeler to help them upgrade the quality of their models, and of course create new ones as well.

They've asked me to help them out numerous times, but I don't have the time to devote to modeling anymore. I don't want to see their game diminish when it is just starting to pickup and make progress after all these years and I know we have more then a few models who could do it. Plus it would give you good industry experience!

There's no techincal involved - tis a blatant forum rule violation. Granted, so is his sig. ;)

I still think MS:S's best chance for survival is to somehow merge those two mods, even if the game world gets tweaked a bit in the process.

I personally don't see why we wouldn't merge the two mods, better to get the ball rolling instead of just letting it sit there.

I don't mind giving my source code away. But I probably wouldn't merge with MS unless you plan on changing the way characters level. I don't like the whole 'can level everything' and lack of choosing in the way characters progress in MS. I like classes and specific roles that each character gets, and having to choose their own stats as they progress, allowing for really unique character builds.

but at least my source would give a start to some of the basic systems that would be needed:

Saving/Loading Characters
Level Progression
Skill/Spell System/Progression
Inventory System + Equipping Characters + QuickBar

They're most likely not exactly what you would want, but its a start at least.

I'd personally hate to lose that feature, but I'm sure the MS:S team would have no issues dropping it. I assume the level system would get trashed one way or the other in anycase. I don't think there's any dedication to any of our current game mechanics, save maybe the ability to physically dodge. (ie. basic FPS/MMORPG hybrid premise)

The only problem I see is how dedicated you are or aren't to your world lore ie. how much of the MSC world lore would you be willing to adapt.

Thou shalt not recruit for thy mod. Such an action is not only rude, but also in poor tase.

hmm.. well its not a 'mod' and its not 'mine', so i guess it is allowed ( though only through technicalitys )

And my sig is not recruiting.. merely advertising :p

I just started working on the mod as I was learning c++, just a way to try things out as I learned about them. It's just basically a collection of things i was experimenting with, so theres no lore to speak of. Just me going, hey that would be neet, and trying to see if I could do it.

I don't know how generous it is, its pretty basic right now. That and it's was done while learned both the language and my way around the engine, so its pretty messy and probably not very optimal.

Well, then I don't forsee any problem. I think the only thing the MS:S team is really set on keeping is Lanethan's world. The MSC game mechanics are, admittedly, ass-backwards, and a lot of it is the way it is due to limitations in the engine itself. If you have some new game system idea I'm sure they'd be all for it, as I do not think they had any intention of keeping the old one intact.

Right now there isn't too much to the gameplay. Theres 5 skill keys, that you can assign a skill to from your skill list. Each skill has a mana cost and a cooldown time (a wait time to use any skill ) and each skill can be upgraded by using skill points gained from leveling (1 point per level) and other Major quests.

My mod was going to be Diablo2-ish expect in First-Person, which most people seemed to like.

Yeah, and that's why Diablo never had an expansion pack, cross-console version, a sequel, AND an expansion pack for that sequel. Not to mention countless user made modifications, or a booming online community. That is also why, about 8 years later, no one ever plays it anymore. Amirite? Oh, what? Everything I said was a false statement? Those things DID happen? Omigosh! Maybe Diablo DOESN'T suck! Maybe it is Mikkel that sucks! Could it be?

Yes, most certainly.
