Loadable bows?

Is it possible to make bows work more like normal half life guns in that they can be loaded and reloaded? It would be fantastic if we could eliminate an entire stack of arrows by loading it onto a bow. For one, it would remove a stack of arrows from our inventory. Also, it would allow different bows to be loaded with different ammo so that an archer isn't stuck using the same arrows over and over until he reorganizes the contents in his quiver.

Yeah, this is probably impossible, but it's worth suggesting anyway.

Hmm, an msc version of a gun clip? I don't see that happening. But it would be cool to bundle all of your arrows together into one huge bundle and maybe release an arrow of some type at random.

Stackable arrows and bolts would be truly wonderful. With the easy stacks of 100 gone, training archery has become quite painful for neat freaks like me :| (I feel an urge to get rid of partially used stacks for some reason... Maybe I just want to keep my items limit as low as possible). And barely anyone bothers with stacks of 25 except for specific use. If I had to vote for the next thing that I'd like to see done, I would not hesitate to choose stackable arrows and bolts. It would put that free weight to use for sure and archery much more fun.

I 2nd the stack-able arrows/bolts. it would be great if you could put the stacks together to lower your item count.

I also would love to see stackable bolts and arrows, but I assumed it to be impossible since it's such an obvious flaw in msc and it hasn't been done yet.

I wonder what makes it impossible in MSC while it was in MS. I remember "You pick up 3267425 silver tipped arrows" Oh I think it's because they can no longer be picked back up after being shot right? I used to know why but I forgot.

Actually, we had a similar problem in MS. Remember all those chests in Calruins we couldn't get fire arrows out of? The system hasn't changed. Couldn't stack them back then either. If you picked em up one at a time, you just wound up with dozens of individual arrows in your inventory.

On the other hand, remember all those crashes we used to have in Helena? That was because you could pick up arrows. ;)

I seem to vaguely remember stacking bolts/arrows blowing up ms for some reason.

I'd prefer some sort of ridiculously hard to get limitless quiver-like contraption that you could put in your hands and swap modes for different arrow/bolt types (Type saved to character on switch), with each subtracting a different amount of gold per shot.

No more 25/30 stacks of arrows/bolts taking up 15 slots on your character when you want to go level. (I don't even know anyone who bothers with the 15 stacks.)

Keldorns idea is rather interesting.

Why don't we just create larger stacks? Some people complain about maps not having enough exp and/or loot. Stacks of 100 or more would solve that problem. If there are any maps that are currently being withheld from release due to lack of good loot, I suggest releasing them and giving them chances for stacks of 100, 200, or 500 to spawn in the chest. This kind of reward is beyond fantastic because it will keep people playing the maps over and over again. I rarely visit maps like the_keep, for example, because I have every good item there.

Also, why were the 100 stacks removed from mscaves? I understand that perhaps that map is too easy for 100 stacks but removing them from the entire game? That just doesn't seem right, to me.

In Ara you can get a stack of 100 blessed bolts.

I know, as well as steel and dwarven bolts. I fail to see why this kind of treasure has to be restricted to one map, though. It just seems like a great item to use as loot if there are any future maps lacking in the treasure/exp department.

It's a 100 stack each of wooden, iron, blessed, and dwarven bolts on ara. I don't know if there is any other place to get a stack of 100 steel besides before the patch in the mscave chest.

Shuriken was coding up something that would cause projectiles of the same type to automagically stack. I dunno if MiB is feeling daring enough to take a stab reproducing that effort.

Ahh shuri. He was a good dev/guild member/player. Too bad the "war" happened and made him leave.

Yea... He was also my friendly hp rival :|. He's a big loss to the community.
P.S. : This topic is getting drift out of subject.

As far as my coding knowledge goes, can't you create something that examines the players hands, checks to see if the bolt/arrow types match, if this test passes, have the two items quantities be totaled, delete the two old sets of arrows and spawn a brand new item with the new quantity?

It wouldn't be an auto stacker but it would allow players to stack in their own time.

If I remember correctly the problem is generally that even though you have a stack of 25 bolts, the item quantity comes up as 1 (as in 1 stack of x amount of bolts). Last I heard MiB was working towards this. Also, coding in general can be thrown to the wind as soon as you hit MSC++. It really can be quite the nightmare.

Have something read and pull apart the string to get the 1 item of x number :p? I'm interested to see MS:C code now.

Kinda funny seeing all the crazy theories ;-) I have a fix. Thoth says there's a bug in it which I will take care of at some point. Kinda busy with RL stuff at the moment.
