It's in the rview .smd ... You'll see them should you decompile the model, and whats left is just deleting the group(s) of the model.

But fitting the model to the hands is the last thing you'll do.

The current Bludgeon Hammah looks so good, I dunno how you are going to beat it...

The model is under msc/models/viewmodels/v_2hblunts.mdl - it's the last submodel in the series.

I'd give up on GMax though. GMax is a crippled version of 3dsMax, intended as demonstration software, and it's technically not even supposed to allow you to export to any format usable by anything but GMax and 3dsMax. Most of the exporters that do exist for it are third party hacks, and the Discreet crew often finds ways to disable them, so they tend to only work for very specific revisions of the demonstration software. I'm not aware of one that works for Half-Life1 SMDs (although there's a semi-functional hack out there that works for HL2).

Any tutorial you can find for 3dsMax, however, is likely at least semi-applicable to GMax.

I'd avoid any Python compiled modeling programs (eg. Gmax and Blender). They tend to be slow as f*ck and unstable as hell, in addition to requiring the ever-increasing overhead of the Python system, which bypasses the Windows GUI - which defeats the entire purpose of having a GUI OS. In 3dsMax's case, while it is a very powerful tool, it does all sorts of crap you don't need it to do when modeling for Half-life, most of which is going to get in the way, and thus tends to be a lot more confusing than need be.

Milkshape is pretty much the way to go for Half-Life1 modeling. You'll find thousands of tutorials and forums to help you out in that regard, and all the import/export functions you could need are included in the default installation package. Unlike these other programs, it is designed specifically for mod-development, as opposed to being a general use 3D design system.

The pirate ship is at work, but once it's docked at port, expect a private message.
