I am glad these spam bots all seem to be programmed well enough to spam in offtopic, or least, so far as I've seen. Even the crazy russian pr0n spam we'd get in the WW forums got routed to offtopic. Must have been 10,000 of those, so I doubt they were placed by hand...

i think that the bots are programmed to post in a topic that they recognize.
almost all forums have an offtopic...

rename the forum and you wont get any bots

Cuz I figured they are "courtesy programmed" to use offtopic, if they find said. But we got some spam in the Jigglyforums under General Puffness - and we have no offtopic section. (Same with my friend's LAGoth.net a few years back, may it RIP)

Although, if ye look at the URL above, the topic thread sections are numbered, not named, from net-think, so it must actually go through the trouble of parsing the HTML to figure where it wants to go.

i just had to confirm with valve that playlinc doesn't get people VAC banned - and indeed it does not! (never know with those people...)

well, its like..you can use AIM inside your game, so you can talk to people that dont have things like Xfire (girlfriends/non gamer people/n00bs)

it also has lobbies for each game, and voice chat (activated by mouse3 for me )

theres also some forums kinda built into the program so you can ask for help with stuff.

Kinda useless for those of us who already run HL in a window I suppose.

I dunno... I kinda felt better about this when I thought it was a bot. To think people actually go from forum to forum doing this sort of thing manually is almost as disturbing as those guys we get around here dressed up as Abe Lincoln waving signs at cars driving by "Honest Abe's Property Refinancing" in 98 degree heat. Because, as we all know, home refinancing is a typically done via impulse buy.
