"red" weapons

I play a game called Phantasy Star Online and they had these weapons known as "red" weapons and I thought they would be awesome to have in MSC.

Here's how red weapons work in PSO: you must do a fairly long quest-line and at the end a smith makes for you one red weapon of your choice be it a sword, dagger, saber, and several other options. One catch to this is; you can only do the quest once! Thus the red weapon you get is the only red weapon you get. This same thing in MSC would be great, not quite a specialization, but a one time weapon choice for a unique weapon.

Red weapons had the special property in PSO that they could be upgraded more than other weapons of their type, if an upgrade system is integrated into MSC it would be nice if red weapons could have this property. Making it a weapon that levels up with you.

Though they are called red weapons in PSO they could easily be called something else in MSC. The important thing is the one time quest line for a choice of a dagger, sword, ax, hammer, ect and possibly giving the choice between one-handed or two-handed for some of them.

Thank you, Zeus, for contributing to the topic. :roll: but to answer your question, yes.

I personally think this is a great idea, though. It'd be really interesting to see a system to "level" weapons, as well...

yeah i did contribute, it's ontopic since it's related to the subject.

The idea is nice, but honestly it seems like a way of getting an unique cosmetic weapon from the game. Plus it sounds too much like the felewyn quests already, which are like that in the end...

Not to mention, i'm pretty sure every single weapon would have to be redone for this "red version" of yours. Because y'know, making every single item "red" would probably require a reskin on each item, unless the quest itself gave permanent glow to the player when wielding a certain weapon in hands...

Also, there were suggestions in the past similiar to this. One being "rare versions" of a group of handpicked items, these rare versions would have unique visuals, like shiny golden reskin, etc. And they would end up being like a rare treasure chest/monster slay drop. Like an artifact item, a real treasure for once...
