Perhaps Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest? That's a pretty old game with similar map-images & that such...

I'm just guessing based on the make-up... seems like something Final Fantasy nubs would do.

Otherwise it's this one other game I used to play... you walk around the map there & actually see the monsters on a mini-map or something & when you run into them (NOT 7th-Saga) you go into battle. The battle screen is more like Tales of Phantasia, so it isn't 7th-Saga, which has more of an FF-series battle-screen.
