just spent a good amount of time with a ms buddy going through beargods series: lowlands>highlands>lostcastle>skycastle
By time getting to skycastle the server comes up with errors then crashes. So I start it in edana as suggested before changing to other maps...because ofcourse there will be an error if I dont and without logging into my character I change the map to skycastle. I try to log in and it tells me i have "illegally" joined the map. I didn't really care until now, because I play off and on month off + month on, but this issue is still around and it still hinders full enjoyment of the mod.
So my suggestion is to allow the joining of maps to be a little less nazi until the errors are fixed..

If you crash on skycastle, you can restart on skycastle, if you haven't gone to any other maps.

I loaded the server on edana without logging in, but it still gave the message.

I'm continually impressed by the updates you make on your own time.

It wasn't a smart-ass reply. Thothie isn't going to remove the gauntlet map restrictions (and I doubt that if you are thinking about what's best for the mod, you will agree), and telling him to "fix the bugs" is like saying "bring back the dead". It's a nice idea, and a lot of people would love to see it happen, but it isn't something you can "just do".

And starting on Edana is still going to a different map. It doesn't matter if you've loaded or not.
