This one is sure not for the next beta package. Maybe for MSC 1.2?

Do anyone here know Desert Crisis? Some good ideas, bad presentation, already forgotten.
One of the good ideas was a cusomizeable head: customizeable eyes, hair, eyepatches, face hair... Would be a great addition to MSC.

any links on desert crisis... was it a hl1 mod? this could be doable with MSC i think, but definately not top priority...as it would mess up unless the armor display bug is fixed, i'd think.

If we can fix the armor display bug, in theory, we can add any submodel to the existing submodel sets. Hell, we can make it a woman just by shuffling various submodels... Or even an elf... Maybe not a dwarf though. ;)

who wants to be a dwarf!?

most people would pick elf...would it be possible to make the races do anything with the current char files?

IE: humans are all-rounders, but elves get more archery and magic xp, while dwarves get more melee xp?

I dunno... Could come up with... Stuff... But getting ahead of ourselves, since we've not managed to figure a way to alter the player model yet. Setprop idea was looking promissing, but I've not heard back from any of my research team on that idear, and my only attempt at that method, thus far, failed.

Too clichee. Humans need an own strength instead of "free choice". They have it in almost every RPG out there. What about humans have the magic bonus while elves get archery? And dwarves shouldn't get bonusses in all meele skills (eg no small arms).

i was just saying they'd get more XP in thier favored skills, not that they would by default be better...

ex, kill a spider with erratic lightning

dwarf gets 25xp
human gets 50xp
elf gets 75xp

you could still be a dwarven mage, but it'd take quite a while longer ;)

I understood that from the first moment on and yet, an even balance would be useful. Meaning every race having the same amount of normal, better and ideal skills.

If traditional lore is followed, humans don't need to get the 'all-rounder' tag. I would suggest something like:

Elves:

Nature's Touch- Elves learn restorative magics quicker than other races.
Grace- Elves learn dextrous skills (Daggers, Ranged) quicker than other races.

Humans:

Chaotic Heart- Humans learn destruction magics quicker than other races.
Warlike- Humans learn martial weapon skills (Swordsmanship, Axehandling) quicker than other races.

Dwarves:

Strong Soul- Dwarves learn alteration magics quicker than other races.
Stout- Dwarves are adept at fighting with the tools they use best (Blunt, Martial Arts).

I dunno if I can tweak the XP rate (maybe with some hard code) - it may turn into items or magic unique to each race, or some special ability, or some such...

Still need the ability for external scripts to affect the player model though.

My information.
Hmm... I'd have thought that Dwarves would've gotten the axe-bonus... but I suppose blunt (heavy tree-branch like weapons) does belong on a dwarf... and a Human Barbarian type (in seemingly every game) uses the axe anyways :D

As to Desert Crisis; I remember that mod, used to play it all the time before people stopped hosting & the website shut down... that was a REALLY good mod... what with the "Metroid" like wall jumping ability they had implemented & all.

As to the customization of stuff like the head... I think this has already been suggested, but only for MS:S (Mastersword: Source , I would presume being the title... showing that it is for the Source Engine for HL:S & CS:S stuff).
