The tutorial/manual for the game says it "Affects your ability to parry blows." but what about now? Since parry is no longer a skill and instead a value based on your level with each weapon type, what exactly does Awareness do? Is it like a passive bonus to all parry rolls or something?

In what way, exactly? Even with higher awareness the parry value you when you hold your weapons always corresponds with your level in that skill.

I can see this thread going in many interesting ways, perhaps we can truly discuss how to make a min-maxed powerful character in the most careful of ways.

Your parry roll is a random number between 0 and your parry value (max 60), plus awareness, with a final max of 80.

Confusing. The highest parry value attainable according to the stats window is 90 while using two one handed level 45 skill weapons. 67 with two handed weaponry.

Am I missing something here?

Parry is determined by weapon proficiency and shield multiplier. Two handed weapons get a x1.5 bonus (except gauntlets)

Attacker rolls d100, and defender rolls Awareness+Parry, which caps at a floating point, depending on the strength of the attack.

Most AOE attacks, DOT's, and some magical attacks cannot be parried.

System is a bit buggy yet - probably need to simplify it further, though it's less screwy than it was, I suppose.

You can get up to 135 Parry by combining a max skill 1h weapon with a Shield of Urdual.

Also in the process of re-writing the script side of the parry system along with the whole wielding system, cuz bugz. Game mechanic could use some reworking, though no real plans for fundamental changes atm. Am adding some variables to let Titles affect parry skill in the future though.
