When I start up, I don't see castle portrait .....

Okay, my problem with what I have and I really want to play this game is that when I start up the game I remember there used to be a castle thing on start up and it's like starting this awesome pumped up music which I love, when I installed the jul2013b patch, everything is messed up and when I join all I see is gordon freeman in half-life and when I join the game, it's like I'm downloading the whole mod again....

I'm on windows 8 and I think my specs are fine as it is

Sounds like the install fubared or is split.

Go to Steam Library, uninstall Half-Life. (Right Click, Delete Local Content...)

Re-download, start Half-Life, load Training Room.

Close Steam.

Download the Full Installer, from yonder, and install.

Download the Betapack, from yonder, and install.

Restart Steam.

Send Gabe Newell three fresh babies.

...And you should be good.

Thank lord in heaven it worked like a charm. Thank you Thothie ^.^; I also see the female actually kinda looks like a female (Didn't for me before). Thanks for everything, already level 8 archer, still an awesome game as I remembered it :3
