Starting a different map, this one has turned out to be a complete derp. I will come back to it, but for now compiling errors...soooo many of them.

First mapping project, no idea what to name it. Any suggestions, be sure to tell me.

Also don't have a theme (Like bandits,orcs,,etc.)

(When I get farther in the map, I'll add more pictures.

At my computer :)
at least it seems like your understanding the tools well, you seem to understand that you have to make the textures flow. the more you map the more your going to want to get into complex brushes. just keep practicing till you got everything down.

By the looks of it, an undead theme would probably go better with it.

If it's a short map, why not consider it like a shortcut from one map to another, or perhaps a hidden map somewhere that's only accessible via transition.

Your walls appear to be one unit thick, this is bad.

Stay on a 16 unit grid, plzktnx.

I can't make out any walls at all from those shots though - but it maybe the gamma thing again.

Also, calruin2-ish would seem to call for undead, rather than not call for it, but we do certainly have a lot of undead themed maps. Then again, we aren't offering much in the way of other options for ornate indoor maps, other than orcs, bandits, bludgeons, and cultists - and possibly elemental leftovers.

Havent updated with any pictures because I cant take any in game, and any from hammer would just everyone seeing a bunch of triggers and stuff. It is a lot better, but when I tried to compile it, I got just about the same errors as:http://msremake.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9075 which I got on another map I made earlier today.

Before you start again, go yonder, and pay particular attention to Gabe Newell's Ten Commandments. Also, download some of the example maps and look at them.

It's also a good idea to get in the habit of starting with brushes painted entirely NULL, then go back and paint the visible faces on them with proper textures later. It isn't as important on maps made up of boxes, like Calruin, but it's best to get in the habit now, than to have to learn it later when you get into more complex structures like natural terrain.
