I really want some way to help out somehow in the community.

It appears to me that you guys mostly need modeling/mapping. I'm really not very good at the artsy stuff (texturing, modeling, mapping), as i'm more of a technical guy. I'm a computer/web programmer. I guess i'm looking for a way to use my skills to help out around here. Right now all i can do is run a server (kinda laggy, but works.) i'm also working on getting the server running in linux (RiP Linux Server [FN] Sept 14 Update, test it out for me, let me know how it works)

Anyways, the dev team and thothie have put alot of work into this stuff, for you, me, and everyone to have fun. I feel like i owe something back.

If you see an underground map design you like in another RPG (such as Oblivion and the line), odds are that it can be adapted to HL1. It's those above ground ones where things get iffy.
