OFFERING:
Unholy blade, brand new, A++ quality

WANT:
A really large amount of various rare items in return. Post your offers. Note: Two holy lances (for example) isn't nearly good enough.

NOTE:
I probably won't trade with people who assign "personal values" to items. Why? If someone assigns a personal value of, say, 270 to a High Elven Blade, and a personal value of only 3 to a Dwarven Axe, certain people might suspect that the High Elven Blade is vastly overpowered and this might have dire consequences.

tl;dr: Don't assign personal values to items because it is a great way to break the game.

Honestly, i assign personal value to items related to rarity not how good it is... If i actually took things that way i would be charging alot more from the drops i get from the_wall. Though this is just me, dunno about the others.

Personal value is fine, but when you publicize your personal value via a "points" system, it might attract interest and get picked up by other players, again ala TF2. I joined a TF2 trade server because I was bored and there was actually a wall that was part of the map itself, showing what items were worth however many points and could be traded for yada yada.
Trading in TF2 isn't even viable for me because of how fucked over the economy is because people can't bring themselves to assign their own personal values to items based on desire, rather, they're brainwashed into thinking metal should be the standard currency for any item they offer me in trade or vice versa.

TL;DR: Private personal value system > public personal value system

As the inventor of personal value (as far as i can tell) i am very sad to hear you don't like the system :oldlol:

I assume you must hate exchanging currency for your every day goods and services. :D

As for me, i just assign value depending on MS:C market value and my desires, just like anyone would do in IRL if they knew a thing or two about econ 101.

The only reason i'm actually posting this is simply to understand the mentality behind this hatred... since i study a lot of economics, it's interesting to me to study behavior in a closed system. Allow me to pick your brains now.

Why do you hate it? Can you be specific? :D

I so terribly despise it because one of my still top-list casual games is ruined by an economy implemented by greedy players wanting nothing more than far too much for something that likely cost them nothing more than playing a game for an hour or two (or in some cases, leaving their computer on, sitting ingame in a corner somewhere whilst they enjoy the real world.)

I hate it mainly due to the fact that, from time to time, I decide to ask a friend if he has said item, knowing he absolutely never uses it, because it's not on his list of favorable items, and I will get a reply involving the bogus currency system I so despise. And since TF2 is a much, much, much larger game than MS:C is, the way things worked out there was almost no way of ever stopping a currency system being implemented simply because there was guaranteed going to be one person in the community that says "Hey, I want to assign a 'personal value system' to my items, so I can establish a trading boundary for myself easily." And that's great, a wonderful idea for him at that, but, if he posts said system publicly, there will be other people that stumble upon said system and say "Hmm, I have no value system, this one is already made and looks decent enough, I could use this as my own standard." But, as stated, MS:C is a far smaller community, and such a (arguably balanced or not) economy can be prevented.

Simplistically stated, don't post your "personal value system" on the boards. Keep it in a notepad or somewhere truly personal. While the community is small, there could still exist a member that decides to copy the system and implement it himself, though unlikely, still possible.

I'm not telling you that you CAN'T use it, or that you CAN'T post it on the forums, 'cause y'know, I can't exactly do that. I'm just expressing dire grief toward it, and explaining reasons as to why it shouldn't exist, and hoping that you come to a similar believe and nuke the system from orbit before it somehow ruins the game that stood at the top of my list of 100% amazing, favorite, absolutely incredibly buggy, awesome fun for the longest time.

(There was more to this post, but it was edited out for, uh, size reasons. As well as the fact that I've never posted in the trade thread or subforum itself involving an actual trade. l0l)

there might be players that just want some item really bad for their collection
that doesnt necessarily mean that its very good or even usefull

for example i farmed map x and y for days to get a wolf bane
b4 so told me that u can get it easy on map z with alot of players
i was about to trade it for a tork bow or something of similar rarity

but amyway its probably better to write a list of what u want and what u are williung to trade for it as usual
and send your personal values via pm or steam friends to the players who want to trade with u

For my Blood Drinker? I would have to ask for 3 of each potion then.

EDIT: Sorry we couldn't get a deal going, Blood Drinker has returned to the list.
