If you get what I am saying. One area having the blue texture named sky and the other area having the desert texture named desert_top/desert_left/desert_right...

You can, also, stack additive func_conveyors's on top of each other to make a fairly convincing sky, provided you are aiming for stormy skies, or some such, and have it situated in such a way that the sky ceiling is flat. (Seen it done a few times, looks kinda neat if you do it right.)
