Well, nearly two years without a patch, which just about breaks our record, so... We're givin ya a little something to tide ya'll over while we continue to beat this thing into shape.

Kroush is a mid difficulty FN approved map, now up on the RKS servers. It can be downloaded directly from them (which maybe a bit slow), or from here:
http://www.thothie.com/msc_dev4/kroush_NOV2017_01.rar
Or as an attachment so linked below. (Either way, requires Winrar or 7z.)

The extensive multi-level map, while obeying NOV2015a compatibility, features an incremental dynamic treasure system and integrates a few clever features to give it a fair amount of replay value, all while providing a few puzzles and surprises along the way.

Currently, to access the map, simply "votemap kroush" in chat or console.

So go kills us some bandits! (And spiders, and tigers, and bears, oh my!... Wait, no tigers...)

Well, we're coming up on our third year no patch anniversary.

Was hoping to be in alpha testing by mid October and for a release on November 1st, but predictably, that hasn't worked out (no one to blame on the dev team aside from myself, really). Hoping to resolve that in the next few days... If, against all odds, that does work out, and the alpha test doesn't result in anything too traumatic, with luck, we'll have another turkey day patch.

Meanwhile, enjoy your candy.

(Someday we'll get that damned Halloween event patch.)

Bleh, yet another security leak and mysterious crash bug later... Mission: Release by Turkey Day is apparently a turkey.

Alright, what I'm gonna do is set up a semi-public alpha. I'll create a special alpha group and a thread in which anyone who posts therein will be given access to an alpha forum with a link to the download, instructions for swapping between the FN compatible release and the alpha, a list of what needs to be tested, some non-FN commands for testing the things, plus format for reporting bugs. I'll copy everyone from the dev group to the alpha group as well (a recent leak reminded me we kinda need to separate our tester and developer's sections anyways.)

Hopefully I can figure out how to do all that - the Xenforo management is always a little unintuitive to me, though it may be less its fault and more my brain going AWOL in my old age.

So what you're saying is that we should be writing in our 2019 Christmas lists?

So... Yeah.

However...

thornlands_north_centerfold_revamp.png
You wanted more Thornlands? Ya got more Thornlands!

You can download this puppy from the downloads section, or via this link:
http://www.thothie.com/msc_dev4/Thornlands_North_MAY2019_01.zip (~5MB)

...Or just download it in game from any of the official servers.

Currently, to access the map, simply "votemap thornlands_north" in chat or console.

Eventually, this will be in place of the current Thornlands transition to Orc_for (as that is a bit of a difficulty jump).

Lotta randomized events in this map, so beware every playthrough maybe a tad different. While not a self adjusting map, it does adjust difficulty to a degree, with encounters ranging from low medium to hard.

Be sure to bring the appropriate anti-Orc/goblin/spider/angry eagle/crazy wizard/scared mercenary gear!

Great to see this is still being developed :3

I recently took a look at my old thread and had a big laugh, I was quite silly and stubborn back then! ^^'
I still think the Bludgeon lore was decent though, but I'd have given them a proper name or something.

If you're wondering why I was perusing my colored past, I was actually looking for the Master-Sword 1.4 dev build, and managed to find it:

Oh Little-G! Oh how I missed you... :D

Felt so bad for being so harsh on you way back when, not that ya didn't need a little discipline, but man, it was like spanking your favorite son for starting a justified fight.

As for "still in development", bleh, slowly, very slowly. Thothie's getting (even more) senile in his old age, so bare with us. (I probably can't find my beating belt anymore.)

Going old school huh?

Yes and no, that build is extremely valuable and since this mod is relatively unknown I had to back this stuff up or it could be lost forever. It's an important part of my childhood and of Master-Sword's development history.

Well I was pretty creative, stubborn, passionate and obsessive at the same time.
That wasn't an ideal state of mind when doing mod development. ^^'

I still agree with many of my ideals back in the day though. Lanethan's original short story was truly inspiring and amazing to me back then. I thought removing the Lost as intelligent beings hiding in other planes and trying to manipulate reisdents of Leann to return was a bit bad.

In any case it was very nostalgic to check things again ^^ Tbh I felt like we could have solved a ton of our issues with a few sessions of live chat on MSN (Today it's be Discord ofc), having to articulate myself in a single PM and then wait for a response without being able to clarify my intentions was quite vexing.

I played through Kroush with Jonzay last night for the first time. It was good!
The cheeky loot bandit was great also but I didn't get anywhere near as much XP from those bandits as I'd been getting in other bandit maps like phobia.

What is the current status of the next patch? How much is left to be done?

Eh... Between the two remaining brain cells I have, various f*ck ups on my end, and various f*ck ups on my end (they apparently don't talk to each other), kinda where we were the last time ya asked, save more tempted to say f*ck (it), and with an even bigger pile of other people's work being clogged in the pipe by my half-existent arse. (Got Ryza in at least, finally.)

Don't want my keyboard to make promises said two cells can't cash, but maybe we'll be in final alpha testing soon (like I said last month, and the month before that, going back to... *sigh*) I can, probably, undo a few things and substitute some temp scripts and have at least a testable alpha. Just got a few more scripts in to integrate, but it's only copy-pasta, not editing.

Is said brain cell thing going to be a permanent state or are you expecting it to alleviate at some point? Don't want to pry too far into your life, but if you don't think you're ever going to be able to get running again that certainly has implications about the future of the mod.

Might be something for the never ending inbox thread... I thought I cleared up for awhile, and started on something I probably shouldn't have, then, kinda fell off the planet halfway through. DHD'd home, but don't think the whole head made it through the wormhole's event horizon.

Really, everything left that needs doing I coulda done in an hour, a few years back (nearly two months to add/filter some voice files is ludicrous). If I could get half that level of clarity back, for even two hours, we'd be good, but yer right in that I've been holding up this shindig for far, far too long holding out hope for that. I made contingency plans for my prolonged absence, but none for this half-way state that's been persisting and steadily degrading.

is there any way one can help with what's left, or is this purely something you have to sort through yourself?
really wish i could help, though to be entirely honest i don't really have much in my belt aside basic coding experience, so most i can offer are a couple brain-cell-healing circles

If you made the source code for MSC open then the programmers in the community can help you complete the work. I can assure you that we all would like to help you.
