I for one find MS extremely difficult, being a 9th Blade Caster.
We don't balance these things out for people who deliberately nerf themselves. ;) Difficulty levels are intended for groups of players that are playing the game proper.

The spiders in the Thornlands are difficult because of the spitting spider interrupting the fight all the time.
Meh, already nerfed those once.

Going from 12% to 15% isn't going to help you squat against a skeleton.
Going from leather to plate is 12% to 30%.

That's what you get when noone's able to play out and test your changes...
We've got plenty of people playtesting, and plenty of characters created within the past six months that are now level 30+. I make a new baby thoth and smurf every month or two, and play the requisite six to eight hours to get to level 20, just to see how much easier it's gotten.

We do need more areas for lower to mid level characters to go though. Sfor, challs, daragoth, and heras get old after awhile. Sadly, every mapper is like "OMG! I r going to make the hardest map EVER!", so unless I get a break from scripting, or something, I suspect it maybe some time before we get that.

Sure, as a fighter, I find it logical to work in all lines of weapons. I do that in Baldur's Gate as well. There, however, you sacrifice specialization for versatility. A +4 Swordsman will be stronger with a sword than a +2 Swords +2 Mace +2 Spears man, but he wont have the versatility and ability to overcome resists (skeletons, for instance, are immune to swords or daggers - forgot which, while vunerable to crushing weapons like the flail or the mace).

It's a dangerous world, and after all - it's the utter evil we're facing.
Perhaps training in all skill lines possible is logical, concidering the threat.

Guess I'm just too used to the wizard being the robed, old man with a beard who spent years in study, and the heroic swordsman in full plate and packing steel, or the cunning, nimble halfling thief who has to sneak around in battle and backstab instead of raging in like certain fighters with certain rodents.

Reckon a level 10 - 15 map would be welcome?

Might need new monsters to make it interesting/different to travel.

My fav level is thornlands, for all the small secrets in it, lovely :D

Puzzles, secrets and rewards, thats what its all about :)

It'll really suck when you get to the various Maldora incarnations and find out the bastard is immune to all magic. ;)

Maybe more 15-20. 10-15 is a fairly short stage.

One possible good world spot for a low to mid-level map would be that underground river map I r were thinking of that'd run from sewers to the Darrlin's basement in mscave. Could make a series of boat rides, with stops, leading to other boats, and dungeon crawls inbetween. Lots of opportunities for secrets and creative func_train usage. ;)

I need to publish a list of all the models I have sitting around waiting to be turned into monsters.

Wish I knew what happen to some of those maps those kids were working on, like demon temple, and the like, several of them looked nearly done.

Ah, yes, but that's where defensive and protective magic comes in handy, while the fighters take the beating.

Aye, back in the days, there were only maps like the Thornlands, Helena, Haunted Forest, Dark Caves and the Ruins of Calrian - all of which were mysterious in its own way.

Thornlands with all its secrets, Helena with it's somewhat epic battle campaign and the labyrinthine dark caves.

Not just a map with things to kill in it.

I'd like to see more of that in maps, not just generally harder and more difficult.

Granted, I haven't seen all the other new maps, and Heras, for one, is quite such a mysterious map. Just a reminder for those who plan on building new maps.
