I'm kinda surprised you don't have the equivalent of this American criminal scheme in Europe. It's just so damned handy for doing various nefarious acts... Hell, right now, you can even get a pre-paid Visa on line, without a credit card, or even a bank account, directly (or almost directly) through Visa itself. The money laundering applications are just endless!

Sadly, it's true for the place i live in. What's so bad in those things anyways? You speak like if it's some sort of scheme to f*ck up people. :roll:

There used to be more safeguards against this sort of thing, but as the economy gets worse, it's more reliant on the criminal element, I suppose. Granted, our entirely economy is one giant illusionary pyramid scheme these days, so what difference does it make?

Anyways cant you get contributions from the state?
In Sweden you can get contributions for pretty much anything. you can start a compound with your friends and lets say you will play esports games. you get a donation to start the compound and you also get money for each member you have. and you can search extra money for haveing like a LAN party etc.
Same thing would work with MSC.
You dont have anything similar in the US?

I started a compound with some friends hosting a website. We got money for hosting the site and for haveing meetings, food and other stuff we needed.
The idea is that you should not get economic suffering while your working individually to not geting paid for the work. And support compound of freedom.

Yeeeeah... I recall once working for a UK group that got government funding for their mod, and all I could say in reaction to that was...

Sadly, we're based in Amurika, where we don't do that sort of thing. That's commie hippie talk! Yeah, there's a smattering of public grants for various things, but they aren't so easily obtained as in the EU, especially not without putting considerable money into them first, seeing as how, you know, 70% or so of our budget goes to the military force that acts as your world police and all. A grant for experimental gaming is just unheard of out here.

I suppose we could write ourselves up as a charity for breast cancer, or something, and send off any excess cash to funding breast examinations, after operating expenses, maybe doing a few ourselves, but that'd be about it.

Anywho... PayPal really needs to work up a European branch, or something.

I will assume this translates to "Why do you not put advertisements on the site to make money?" The simple answer to this is that we tried this at one point. We made effectively nothing while using it, due to the site being very low volume. And then when we started to make money we were accused of click fraud and the account was disabled. Never have bothered trying again since it was so futile last time.

An update of the collected funds would be cool i.e. 200/300 golds collected.

To date we have collected 280.00 USD (less fees). This is enough to keep our current server package for another year. However, we've decided to downgrade to a less powerful server. This is mainly because we barely use the capabilities of this one, and we believe a lower power server will be more efficient in the long run. As a result, I would say that the donation drive was a moderate success. Hooray!

This may open a can-of-worms with arguments of the cost of an item but its just an idea.

I don't know about Thoth, but I'm never going to support paying for items with actual uses in-game. Glow-y crests and whatnot, sure. But shards, potions, etc, no way.
