Seriously. If the patch is going to take this long to be released a small, mandatory fix for Umulak should have been issued months ago. The game is completely and utterly broken right now.

The only thing cheap about it, imo, is that you can hide away in that hole. The beetles are tough and definetly deserve high xp, but you shouldn't be able to just spam them with tork bow (which you dont even need to be proficient in to level up with) and get thousands of xp per minute.-Its cheap right? But once people reach the current lvl 40 cap in all skills, i myself doubt that anyone will go over 40 anytime soon, even myself and any other player, unless the xp in future maps will be extremely high to make grinding to 45 even worth doing;
This is basically the only problem I have with Umulak. I personally don't think we need to reduce the XP. I'm not even sure we need to put a limit on beetle spawns. Ideally, we'd just close off that hole and make people fight for their xp fair and square. But it just doesn't sit well with me that so many maps are now completely obsolete for new players. It's like the mapper completely wasted his time.The only let down i see is everyone who used to be 300-750hp is now like 750-860 hp without going through much grinding like myself and some others did back in 2008 or earlier
That is one way of looking at it. Another is that, having exploited the map myself, I know first hand how cheap it is. Either way, just because someone is a hypocrite doesn't necessarily make their argument wrong. It just makes them a hypocrite.By the way, you shouldn't be saying this Oyster. Reason? I've seen you use that same place to grind a few times, not really alot of times but i still remember seeing you there killing beetles. So basicaly you are doing this: "Hai guys, im done farming/bored(of) umulak's temporary great xp, can you please fix it now and make everyone else not possible of doing what i did?"
Right, but if I understand you correctly you'd also prefer it if Umulak was never fixed at all. Perhaps I have misread you, but that's the way it seems.J-M v2.5.5 said:This thread should be in No Man's Land if you ask me.
I don't really think anyone needs to give excuses. Let's just fix this exploit and move on. People who started playing MSC around the time this last patch was released have a serious chance of matching Keldorns stats now, and that just does not sit well with me.In my defense I never stopped on the beetles longer then I needed to...
^guilty man's excuse...
err... what? I want it fixed because it is bloating new players stats too fast. I think it should have been fixed long ago, but I certainly don't think 'it needs to be fixed because it should have been fixed months ago'. That doesn't make much sense.So oyster, lemme get this straight...you would like it to be fixed cause it shoulda been fixed months ago, right?
I do not see how it is fair to give someone who quit a special bonus so that they can catch up to 'those who played religiously' without actually putting in any effort. That's the opposite of fair. Furthermore, I don't see how this suggestion is 'kicking down old familiar faces'. All I want is for people to stop hiding in a hole and spamming spells or tork bows.If you ask me this map is just a tool for those whom were on a good spree that had to stop for whatever reason or patch reasons and didnt play for months on end to catch up to their friends whom had still played the mod religiously. Now do you think it fair to kick down old familiar faces, old friends and family just cause they took a break? it may seem right but sometimes you just gotta think if its just a fair little gain to those who have not been up to speed yet like they used to.
Even if that were true, we've had plenty of 'headroom'. The patch has been out since May. That's like, 5 months. Thats almost half a year of 'headroom'.Its not breaking the mod, its helping people who had to put the mod on hold for reasons over the last year of no patches and as such will indeed be nerfed in time, but shouldnt be till there has been some form of headroom.
My take on this: I'm amazingly surprised that Thothie didn't instantly fix this when he first heard about it, which must have been at least six weeks ago. Obviously he doesn't see a reason to release an emergency patch. So why bother making this thread if you can use the same logic I just used to conclude that there won't be an emergency patch anyway?TheOysterHippopotami said:Right, but if I understand you correctly you'd also prefer it if Umulak was never fixed at all.
