But whats the chance of a system like this actually getting implemented? Is it incredibly slim or are we just dreaming?

Unusual hats can be sold for ridiculously large amounts of money.

Upwards of $400-500+ can be gotten with the right hat, and I'm trying to scrape up some money for a new graphics card and a new power supply, since mine seems to be dying.

The only reason that the graphics card hasn't melted is that I have a fan blowing on my computer case.

I would prefer some sort of mix between doing X Y times and rarity than pure rarity as far as "prestige" items go though.

It doesn't make all that much sense to me to use up a lot of time/effort to create an item just for one person when things already seem to be delayed because of a lack of models for weapons that most people are meant to have.

Somewhere over the rainbow.
Never said to put them in now. Probably would be best to wait until stuff is a little more sorted. There's spare talent kicking around from what I see, though.

I think one possible solution is to make 'generic' weapon models repeat more often. If it were possible to buy a level 30 longsword that did roughly the same damage as hoarfrost or blooddrinker, but had no special ability, then we could make our 'cool' models more rare without actually screwing people over. Everyone could play the game, everyone could compete with each other fairly, but only the hardxcore players would have the cool looking stuff.

I don't quite see the point of adding generic weapons while increasing the rarity of artifact weapons, other than it perhaps being a hacky playtime extension for new players who are usually incredibly lazy and/or impatient and beg for rare items/get twinked/get bored, and leave.

Introducing artificial grind extensions/time sinks like weapon/armor repair, making current items more rare, forcing people to use transitions, pay to replay maps, etc without any actual new content does not seem like the way to increase player activity.

Just seems like it would increase the "lol screw this I'm playing something that's actually fun and beg again later" factor to me.

At any rate, I'm guessing that the forge items will probably be very difficult or tedious to obtain, which should suffice for phat prestige lewt.

I am expecting quite a bit of whine over the forge requirements. ^_^

I myself find myself whining over the fact that involves two new swords. >_>

Intend to add yet more forge items to in the future (at the moment, I think what we have is seven new weapons, but no armor or helms or shields.) However, I'd rather setup another forge somewhere else, as I suspect if we do all the items in the current forge, Shad_Palace is going to get run some 50,000 times/month. Trick is finding another spot as difficult to get to.

Possibly an abandoned forge in a high lvl map on the to-do list or in a nearly done stage?

Btw, if it's not too much to ask, is there going to be higher level weapons this patch? As in being lvl 35 or so? (question keeps hitting my head quite alot since there might be that level cap boost too, and those 2 forged swords that you mentioned 2 times now...)

All the forged weapons are 30+.

Plus there's polearms ranging from requisite 0 to 30+.

This suggestion was intended primarily for new players. It would give lazy/busy people the ability to progress in the game without farming for days on end. At the same time, it wouldn't do away with our 'cool' artifact items. Also, I disagree that it will make people less inclined to play. I think the reverse will be the effect. People will see that they can continue to progress in this game without putting in countless hours of farming. And, while they are progressing, they will be constantly bombarded by extra 'goal items' every time they see a high level player. I think allowing people to progress in this game without spending 1,000 hours farming items would keep people playing, not the opposite.

You could set up a forge at Dorfgan in Old Helena. It would be a good excuse to get rid of that bizarre telephone booth thing. It'd be much cooler to have those potions sold by a townsman or alchemist anyway.

You could also set up a forge at every blacksmith, but those forges that are easy to get to wouldn't be able to craft the epic lewt that we'll find in shad palace. It would actually be a rather good place to add more of the generic items I propose. Bring a long sword, some ore of some sort and money and Ike the armorer will upgrade your longsword to the next tier.

A lot of people are much less interested in progressing than they are in getting every single rare item in the easiest way possible just to see what they do/show off.

This is evident from every single player who asks for help or begs for items that they are nowhere near capable of using.

(For people who actually are interested in leveling, I think a few generic weapons would be a good idea, though. Mostly to fill gaps.)

Server logs are somewhat depressing in that way.

Speaking of which, did you know that people were talking about duping or glitches while transferring large amounts of rare items, which is incredibly suspicious?

I mean, transferring rare items back and forth repeatedly is already suspicious, especially if you give away stuff like bear claws to people with like 400-500 hp, but come on, you'd think they'd have a little common sense.

Yeah I am positive bear claws are being duped. I am also quite willing to accuse myseria/salina/whoever the fuck he is of doing it, since I encountered him with three pairs of bearclaws, one of which he handed out to Liam who has only 400 something HP. Given his dubious track record (which has already involved cheating/attempts at cheating) I am kind of quick to place the blame on him/her/it. His explanation of how he got them? "I was running the wall with a bunch of high levels and nobody wanted the bear claws. Three times." When asked when this happened his response was 'a long time ago'.

That this happens immediately after his 'stolen account' fiasco is also kind of damning.

I informed thothie about this, but he said he needed the STEAM ID to do anything about it. He should have the steam ID though, since he has been dealing with that particular account recently. In fact the STEAM ID is still posted on the forums.

Edit again: Here it is in case he/she/it edits the post in the rollback request forum.

Steam Id: STEAM_0:0:12273683

I already checked the [FN] characters of Msyeria, Liam, Sir Skipper, Rich Wolfie and KEMPER (all were named by various people to possibly be connected to this) but I found nothing odd, except for Liam and Rich Wolfie, two quite low-levels, both having bear claws.

The only Steam ID I have for Mysteria isn't his. I'd have to go digging in the RKS logs to grab it. Thus I've not been able to explore this, despite requests to do so. Item exchange logs go by IP/ID's, as that's all the info FN has that isn't encrypted beyond its scope.
