10 players is about the max the game can handle.

I don't know how many German players there are, but I think we have at least one other. We have a lot of Swedes and Dutch that would ping well to your server (could always use another European server).

8 is reccomended, 6 if your computer is a little slow, 4 if you are hosting a dedicated server on an active PC.

Yes, and this one is sometimes pretty annoying

You want a European server. I'd happily do it, if you can find me a way to get my server to show up in the server list :S

I can leave it running un the background with the affinity set to one processor so it should run fine. Yet as I said, I have tried EVERYTHING known to me on how to make the server show, but it won't. It just randomly does sometimes.

ms_ip or whatever it is
Port fowarding
DMZ
Using heartbeat
etc

If anyone knows a miracle fix, I will happily host a dedicated Euro server. Buy sadly, I believe it's my router (Linksys ftl).

Edit:
When I do heartbeat it says
"Master Heartbeat timeout 0.184675 against 200.00000"

well if the computers IP is in the DMZ on the router then it should work, thats unless of course you have 2 routers and don't realize it.

is your router your modem as well?

if not

you might want to set the DMZ with your computers IP address on the modem. Of course keep in mind a DMZ is a danger zone to be in, unless you have a firewall its not safe to be in a DMZ.

speaking of modems, what kind of service do you have?

also if all else fails give me the model # and firm ware version of your modem/router. I can most likely tell you what you need to do.

My router is a Linksys WRT54GS.

My modem is a 20mb/sec NTL Cable Modem Model No. E08C007, no idea what firmware.

I have no idea how to connect to the modem. I used to on the old one, but something is different with this one :S

^ By that I mean, connect to it like I do my Router (192.168.1.1).

Well I connected to my modem (192.168.100.1) and there's no settings I can actually alter. Just monitor :S

I looked up both, your modem has not settings its just a gateway nothing special.

however the router you connected to is most likely blocking you.

so I suggest you go here -> http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellit ... torWrapper

click on user guide and follow the steps to

1. disable your firewall, router firewalls are a pain to work with anyway so why have it enabled?

2. give the computer you are on a static IP address

3. set that new static IP in the DMZ

that should be it.

If reading that is to complicated I could make a step by step follow through on how to do those things.

Ugh, it's a PDF. My adobe reader is broken and I can't view them. Sorry for the hassle but I can I get a step by step :S

I'm trying to load the PDF now, but the window it opens in just keeps crashing.

Oh also (I hope you haven't started writing), I am a static IP address, and that's set to the DMZ. I've tried all this before. Except disabling the router firewall, and looking at it now. It's confusing me.

Isn't using a DMZ dangerous for extended periods of time?

Just be careful whenever you disable your firewall.

I learned the hard way. A local hacker connected while my firewall was down, and sent mass emails to everyone and anyone I've ever gotten an email from (I do believe.)

Our internet was shut down for several days due to my ISP thinking we were the ones sending the emails. It was down for another several days before we could confirm our system was no longer being hijacked.

Don't EVEREVEREVEREVER mess with your router if you have no clue what you're doing. I do now, thank god..

On a side note - I had to reset my router recently to save some changes with it. When I was reconnecting, one of the wireless connections came up with the name cheese. It had a terrible connection, unlike my high speed internet, so I was like WTF?! If you ever see something retarded like that, don't connect to it. The hacker must still be in my area. >.>

sounds like someone doesn't understand the meaning of a difficult password

true its not that safe to be in a DMZ but anyone with say zone alarm will be fine, heck most of the free firewalls out there are just as good to.

*edit*
as for you Xeropace

I think I know what would prevent people from seeing your server.

look for the tab security, then select firewall. You should see 4 check boxes. under this is a description of each one of those check boxes. My guess is that the first one is preventing your server from reaching the outside world.

Block Anonymous Internet Requests This feature makes
it more difficult for outside users to work their way into
your network. This feature is Enabled by default. Deselect
the feature to allow anonymous Internet requests.

Filter Multicast Multicasting allows for multiple
transmissions to specific recipients at the same time. If
multicasting is permitted, then the Router will allow IP
multicast packets to be forwarded to the appropriate
computers. Select Filter Multicast to filter multicasting,
or deselect the feature to disable it.

Filter Internet NAT Redirection This feature uses
port forwarding to block access to local servers from
local networked computers. Select Filter Internet NAT
Redirection to filter Internet NAT redirection, or deselect
the feature to disable it.

Filter IDENT (Port 113) This feature keeps port 113 from
being scanned by devices outside of your local network.
Select Filter INDENT (Port 113) to filter port 113, or
deselect the feature to disable it.
Click the Save Settings button to apply your changes, or
click the Cancel Changes button to cancel your changes.

Now personally I wouldn't be using a router or modem firewall to protect myself. I would turn off anything dealing with the firewall in the router, and would switch to a software level firewall. Something you can manage from your desktop, you don't really need the other its more of a hassel than anything. I would suggest the free version of zone alarm, however there are lots to choose from. Although try and avoid the norton firewall its not that good.

I got zone alarm. I just had no idea the router had a firewall untill you pointed it out lol. And yeah, Norton just slows everything down and doesn't even work very well.

I'll try your suggestion now and see if it works.

I've got one now, dont worry.

Why not get avasta? Its free and is 20x better than norton.

And just as good as zone alarm..

Avasta can detect a virus before you even finish downloading it. (I had to download... something once, it was about halfway finished and it warned me that it was trojan'd)
