does anyone know how to get this thingy to work...?

i've tried making it a lan game, turning steam into offline mode, even disconnecting the internets!

it still says "gl_wireframe cannot be used in multiplayer games" or somesuch rediculousness...

Developer is just for logging, I think, and sv_cheats can't be turned on in MSC

MSC can't be started in single player developer mode, so ya gotta copy your models/maps/sprites to your Valve folder, start half-life, and use map mapname to start your map (do not launch a server through the menu or it won't work.)

gl_wireframe 1 will let you see brush splitting real well.
gl_wireframe 2 will let you see occlusion.

Actually, you can tell the game that it has singleplayer capability. It involves editing liblist.gam. That file contains a lot of critical data, such as what dlls to use, whether the game's model browser is locked out, etc.

I tried that, it ignores the settings. MSC seems to attempt to launch a server no matter what you do. Sadly, also makes testing on the road impossible, lest I'm near a hotspot.

Try adding "deathmatch 0" and "sv_lan 1" to your listenserver.cfg

Nope. Still launches a multi-player server, just a LAN one. (Also won't let me launch in off-line mode more than once.)

A lot of the data in listlib.gam hasn't been valid since Steam, and there's something screwy about the MSC MS.DLL that forces multiplayer no matter what you do. So you still need a Valve folder with your MSC materials for effective development in this game.
