yes, but there is one reason why i decided to make a desert map, the reason is because there are too many normal type maps. You know ones like thornlands, heras etc, in those type of maps the grass texture is allways the same (near enough), i thought it would be nice to have a desert map (like you said)

a jungle map would be good too, just one thing is there has to be a desert map sometime.

Well, we have swamp models... Only have one or two completed scripts - but tis true, most of the swamp monsters are quick and easy scripts.

I think Replica has decided to take up Aluhandra desert, dunno if he's beyond the concept stage yet.

Little G, I'd hate to break your heart, but we cleaned up the Orc mythology with Lanethan. Seems there are no bright-green skinned orcs:

Rather, seems our Borsh will be large and ebony with red eyes. While the dude in Skycastle is among the Shahaddar tribe. Maybe I can give them lepard skin skirts for old time's sake though. ;)

Copper != Bright Green... Well, unless it's really old copper, even then, its more of a rusty green. ;)

So far the closest decent looking thing to "copper" I have is dark brown though. :\

Guess yer tropical/swamp/jungle variety would be large and black. Shad's being your desert dwellers.

my concept is basically a hub type map. lots of transitions, some caves along with a boss, and secrets(just like the thornlands). the only mapping i got done was the beginning and i had some ideas to work with. it doesn't matter though. you can do aluhandra desert if you want. i'm redoing skycastle right now and probably wont be done for a week or 2.

sorry for keeping the thread off-topic, i dont have much VM advice. dont limit yourself to triangles, quads are pretty good if you can keep them valid. try not to overlap brushes. don't make things too detailed. make sure everything is air-tight so you don't get leaks. lastly when textures get stretched, i usually just use the check box that looks the best/most consistent, whether it's world, face, or no boxes checked(i don't know what consequences might come from using one over the other). you also might wanna dl the old wicardoven source from the [wip] archive thread and check out the cave area, imo it's done very well. hope that helps and im not just talking out my ass(it's been a late night)

This word "Tropical", I do not think it means what you think it means. ;) See also, "desert", ie. top of list of antonyms of "Tropical".

Would be hard to curve round corners without lagg unless u make a cliff or soemthing in between, but that would look ugly.

Well, yes, there is an excess of ocean, something generally not found in desert. Tis close 'nough, I suppose, but I was thinking of something a tad more elemental. ;)
