Hurrah! Connecting stops at Downloading Resources

Argh. I have version 1.01, the latest client, ms and sc .dlls, but connecting to any dev_g servers (the only servers I can join) always stops and Downloading and Verifying Resources. It doesn't freeze, because I can still press cancel. It stays at the same point for ages and ages.

What's going on!?

It's not crashing, it's not freezing, it just stops. I've already done all of those to stop my game crashing. Thanks anyway .

To clear the record - I don't know.

Best I can think of is try reinstall... Be sure you are in OpenGL... Make sure other HL1 mods work... Reboot with pants down... yadda yadda.
