Okay. Everyone knows and hates the glitch that causes you to not receive items you buy. Couldn't you just simply make it so the item you buy appears on the table near the NPC?
First of all.
You do receive the items you buy.
You just have to drop and pick up your pack again.
Second.
That idea, while it would look more realistic and cool in theory.
Is horrible.
People could just run by and grab your item.
It doesn't really serve a purpose either.
The system now is fine.
If it worked correctly at least.
I had a simuler problem but mine went on as follows..
I bought a backpack ( It showed up ) tryed to equip it. ( this is where the bug? started )
I could not acess the backpack unless I took off my small sack item then press the switch hands button. When doing that my small bag will go back to being equiped and my backpack will go in my hands. When droping the backpack and trying it that way it still does the same thing..
When droping the small sack and attempting to use the backpack that way the backpack completly dissapeared and I was not abled to get it back, its model dissapeared from my char as well. ( The model of the backpack before I tryed equiping it without having the small bag was shown floating neer my right arm. )
Basicly the backpack is no longer there nore the items that where inside it. No matter what I did I could not get it back. I used to play MS back when it first started as Dark Side. I never ran into this problem before back then..
When weird inventory things start going on, reffer to the other sign:
Character deletes resulting from such are rare, but it happens more than often enough, that said sign should be obeyed, regularly. Similarly, your inventory can become permantly damaged, so it's good to have several backups.
Usually it seems to happen when the character somehow exceeds his weight allowance by picking up or purchasing too many items, but many other more mysterious events seem to trigger it, and it is somewhat hard to predict. Acts as innocuous as switching hands with a potion can cause it. So backup often, or at least whenever you make a major find or XP run.
It should be explained that this game is old - older than certain kinds of dirt. It should be understood that a great deal of the original developers stayed in the dark too long, and were eaten by Grue. Much of the game was developed before the HL1 SDK was fully fleshed out. Much of the game construction was guesswork, and is forcing the engine to work in ways Valve hadn't forseen (for instance, dynamic inventories). The MS:C crew is trying to build upon a good idea that was rather poorly executed, by maintaining the former and eliminating the latter.
You can complain about the bugs in the original game, but it's so old, you aren't going to come up with any original complaints, and odds are the person responsible, is long gone.
Best you can do is ask and hope for work-arounds, such as backing up your character often, and the various amx plugins. :\
