that proxy filter is not run by the school, but by the government who handed it to your school district, so to bypass it would to break a federal law... The government decided it needed to be there to protect you from the outside world while at school

only the public schools are enforced with the proxy.
that was time before Windows XP came out and the only popular speed back then was T1 and T3 for business, and 10 bit connection for cable. Now it is like OC48, and 100 bit cable. It's a public school.
