Will this work fine on desktop PCs?

Also, how does this work, will it replace my current driver? also just in case my system runs in 64 bit

If yer running Windows XP 32-bit with that graphics card, you should just be able to install it and go, be it desktop or notepad (although tis a tad odd to have a 9300m on a desktop system.)

The paranoid would run driver sweeper or some such first, but generally, when upgrading close versions of the nVidia driver, there's no need. Just run it, and follow the prompts. You may need to reset your resolution and such after it reboots.

The "also just in case my system runs in 64 bit" statement confuses me though... I mean, your OS either is 64-bit or isn't. What version of Windows are you running? I *suspect* the drivers will not install at all if the OS is of the wrong proc type.

You can also use the nVidia driver wizard or automagical detecting ActiveX ("Option2"): Over Yonder - the ActiveX should detect your OS version, card type, and hunt down the appropriate drivers for ye. (Note that Firefox will not run the licensed ActiveX, but IE or Chrome will.)

Also beware that, if this is an older game - older drivers are more likely to be compatible than newer ones. The backwards compatibility of drivers invariably deteriorates with each release.

If that isn't the truth. My 9800 PRO could easily handle 100fps constant, no matter what, on any HL-related mod. Eventually they broke the almighty fk out of the drivers and it cannot do that anymore. I went out and bought a 2600HD 512MB cause it was on sale and still got the same, if not worse, results.

I'm almost positive they ruin their software on purpose, cause I know at one point the hardware could easily handle it.
I get freakin' 6-10 fps in helena, when I used to get 100? k..

Reformat didn't save me either. :oldcry:

It's called planned obsolescence.

You can get usually around that though... Start with Driver Sweeper (maybe in safe mode) then go to www.laptopvideo2go.com - find what they claim to be the 'optimal' driver version for your card and OS, and grab one of the enhanced INF variants. (Also, for some cards, it will help to enable the older, vastly superior, control panel via this regedit - although the newer your drivers, the more features that will be removed from it.)

Even in Vista 32 bit theres still issues with games. If something doesn't work, look it up real quick, if you can't find something try running as admin or in compatibility mode with xp SP2. Haven't had any game issues really with Win7 64 bit as opposed to my Vista 32 bit
