Jesus didn't die in winter at all.

Knee deep in shit
I don't know much about religion, but isn't Christmas is supposed to be about the day he was born, not killed? Easter is for resurrection, so that means he died (3 days?) before whenever Easter is. He wasn't born on the 25th of December either, so I dunno why Christians celebrate that day. Just like they always put the three wise men at the nativity. They didn't find Jesus until he was like 3 or something.

Christians think he was born on the 25th. It's shrouded in mystery... :?:

Anywho, Merry Christmas, folks!

Dunno if Weis' URL covered this, but..

1. Christian belief - Jesus was born on December 25th.

2. Science belief - Jesus was born some time earlier in the year (warmer months), but the Christian religion moved the birthdate to the 25th in order to "compete" with a Pagan holiday (hell if I remember which ;-))

I like the Japanese approach to Christmas, CONSUME!

Japanese Christmas is all about the consumerism, after all isn't that what Christmas is all about now?

1. Christian belief - Jesus was born on December 25th.
While there might be (and I’m sure are) many lay-folk who think otherwise, I don't think there's any organized religion on the planet that officially declares that Jesus was born on the 25th of December. Most religions, including the Catholics (which make up 90% of the Christians on the planet, much to the chagrin of the remaining ten), officially place the birth of Jesus in summer or fall, based on observations in the story (what the farmers are doing, which rituals are taking place, etc.). However, three days after the longest night of the year (give or take due to calendar tweakage), was the night chosen to celebrate his birth back at Nicea, for while there is no sure-fire way to determine His exact date of birth, the symbolism is important, as a long standing cycle of birth and resurrection that pervades every ancient agrarian based religion on the planet, being rather critical to the cycle of life (ie. the return of the sun). It’s one of many important milestones that tie us to the most ancient of our ancestor’s thoughts, spirits, and lives, and part of the consciousness of man that every true religion has kept alive, in one form or another, over the millennia. In Christianity, Jesus has been, through parable and ritual, tied to every aspect of this ancient wisdom, immortalizing both it, and His teachings, in a truly beautiful way, should one study it closely.

I’ve nothing against the Jesus, I love the guy. He’s the most liberal Jewish radical who ever lived, and while, most of the time, his teachings are perverted by the masses to their own ends, in the heart of individuals, I suspect, he’s inspired more goodness and love in the western world than anyone in history. - and likely, more than anyone ever shall.

I just don’t like our own religious symbols popping up in worlds that don’t share our religions without explanation for the same reason I don’t like seeing large panes of flat glass and boxes with intel logos on them in MSC. I mean, if CWoG came up with an epic set of maps where the Son of God (or what not) visited Daragoth and it was up to you to spread “The Word” in some sort of epic Crusade, I’d be perfectly willing to write the scripts for it and scatter statues of Mary all over the planet, and thus it’d be another story entirely. ;) Until then, however, Daragoth has its own religions, own rituals, and its own gods…

...Except from the 24th and 26th of December, when for some inexplicable reason, our worlds intersect and they all get Santa hats. ;)

Happy Hogswatch. 8)

Haha first post of Christmas! Mmmmm...

And Thothie? Let's not do any crusades (or map series featuring crusades) in MS:C. As history has shown, crusades were just an excuse for Roman Catholics to start massacres in Asia. Hmm, could we go to Asia in later beta-patches? Ya'know, grab some fireworks based weapons?

My information.
Shadeska: the Crusades were an excuse for Roman Catholics to seize any wealth they found in Asia and the Middle East; they just so happened to kill everyone & everything along the way, because those involved were mostly evil... depending on if you view raping women & children then slaughtering them to be evil, as was common during the Crusades.

But, lets not dwell on evil people of the past who belonged to the most evil organization in the world. It's Christmas. ^^

Merry Christmas!
