Merry Christmas

While there might be (and Iâm sure are) many lay-folk who think otherwise, I don't think there's any organized religion on the planet that officially declares that Jesus was born on the 25th of December. Most religions, including the Catholics (which make up 90% of the Christians on the planet, much to the chagrin of the remaining ten), officially place the birth of Jesus in summer or fall, based on observations in the story (what the farmers are doing, which rituals are taking place, etc.). However, three days after the longest night of the year (give or take due to calendar tweakage), was the night chosen to celebrate his birth back at Nicea, for while there is no sure-fire way to determine His exact date of birth, the symbolism is important, as a long standing cycle of birth and resurrection that pervades every ancient agrarian based religion on the planet, being rather critical to the cycle of life (ie. the return of the sun). Itâs one of many important milestones that tie us to the most ancient of our ancestorâs thoughts, spirits, and lives, and part of the consciousness of man that every true religion has kept alive, in one form or another, over the millennia. In Christianity, Jesus has been, through parable and ritual, tied to every aspect of this ancient wisdom, immortalizing both it, and His teachings, in a truly beautiful way, should one study it closely.1. Christian belief - Jesus was born on December 25th.
