It's that, but the main point (right now) is Factions. In short, since this is my phone, make a faction with friends, claim land, fight/ally with other factions, ???, profit

Ok, now that I have a bit more time...

As mentioned, the server is Hardcore, which means a number of things. For one, if you die, you get a 3-day deathban (Though, you can purchase lives if you wish). It also means that monsters are always at their maximum difficulty (additionally, there are even harder monsters denoted by swirly potion effects and, in cases of the uber ones, flames). Lastly, but minorly, starving WILL kill you.

The main point of the server now is Factions. Get your friends together in a group, make a base and war with other factions. Each person has power to contribute to the faction (-10 to 10). When you die, you go to -10. When you're online, you gain 1 power every 5 minutes, and offline loses you 2 per day. Your faction may only have as much land as it has power. So, if too many people are offline or inactive, your land is at risk. Other factions may come claim your land and steal your things.

Other server features include Catacombs (Dungeons with extremely hard monsters but great rewards), Dwarven Mines (mines that regenerate their ore, but have strong monsters), player-made shops, and Tikis (which can be found for rewards)

If you refer friends, tell them to say "/ref by <your_player_name>". Every referral gets you one diamond, every four gets you one life.

You know the mod's dead when the mod leader starts advertising other games. ^_^

if you die, you get a 3-day deathban
Yes, because that's what I always look for in game design. The inability to play at all.

I can't even handle the 20 second delay in TF2, so I think that's out. :)

The concept it great! But the cost for lives is a bit pricey... Will there be a teleportation mod on the server?

EDIT:

And in response to this:

I know what it said, I checked the website, I was attempting to bring out more of a discussion to hopefully get more people possibly interested in it. *stupid face* <.< >.>

The three-day ban is balance (and we're not the only server to do this). If players just instantly respawned, it would be far more difficult to capture other faction bases. And, it's for incentive to give us the monies (as peoples obsessions tend to do) and refer more players. One doesn't simply die in Minecraft if they're careful.

The only teleport players have is "/f home" which, when in a faction, will take you back home (for a price).

I think 60 seconds, and then only when slain by another player, would suffice.

I'm sure "other servers do it" is a lovely justification, but shared insanity is not a good thing. ;)

It's not as though I've not seen plenty of faction videos of folks wiping out opposing factions with no death delay at all, but I dunno, maybe your faction system doesn't decay faction power levels per kill, like theirs do, allowing you to /claim their land every time you kill someone, until they've no where to spawn.

QFT.

What keeps the mod from being completly dead right now is the generous FN hosting from RKS to those who haven't progressed entirely in the game, obviously patches revive it but they are scarce these days, so yeah.

Picture a man walking in the desert trying to find an oasis, by the time he finds one we get a new "essence of life" that will keep it running for a time.

As for minecraft, i don't play it, if i did play it, i would pay a visit to this server just to see what's up.

Well, during the three day ban, I suppose we can hope they'll come back and play MSC... Though more likely, they'll invest three days of construction work on some other Minecraft server, and forget all about MiB's. ;)
