Hey I've been playing MS:C for quite some time by myself and with my bro. I remember playing it way before steam and I decided to try to learn some modeling. I've been using Milkshake since it seems rather idiot proof and it's free. I looked through some of the tutorials but I'm still rather newbish to making models. I'd like to be able to help with whatever I can. I have some photo-shop knowledge as well and I'd like to learn to do skinning.

I made this today.

Very nice, much better than most 'first models' I've seen, definitely including my own :D

As for skinning it would be a good idea to learn UVmapping to create a detailed and accurate skin (Ironically, I never learned this...Quite a handicap for me, so I'd suggest learning it ASAP).

Try to modify the smoothing groups on the blades, that way the edges will be more defined. I definitely want to see that knife

Thanks for the comments. I still have to fix the pommel but i wanted to ask about how to fix the black splotches appearing on the blade I got one side to look good but the other doesn't.

With smoothing groups. Select some faces of the blade and assign them to other smoothing group (if by black splotches you mean all those shadow there).

The selector editor helps alot with selecting specific faces

Make sure that your knife(or sword) is symmetrical. You can do this by deleting one half of the blade(the worse half in your opinion), and then duplicating and mirroring what's left. Then, when that is done, take the edges that are only one vertex, and snap and weld them (Ctrl+W and Ctrl+G, respectively). Coincedentially, my first model was a knife, and I had the same issues as well, but when I went back and redid it after a few months of experience, it looked as I meant it to be.

Finished It up today. thanks for the tips sabre. I designed it after the 300 spartan sword. I got it divided into 10 groups so all I gotta do is skin it up some time later.

Looks really freaking awesome! If that gets ingame, I'd use it no matter what category it falls under.

That would be a cool knife. I say this because 1) we need cool looking non-elemental knives and 2) we have too many swords to deal with.

Yeah one thing I wanted to do was go and reskin the daggers and make more models for them. Like make the royal dagger gold looking etc.

EDIT: Made this today.

It's actually easier to master than mapping is.

Also, that chain on that mace (or rising star whatever) is far too detailed for msc. Looks good though.

Problem is for modeling, I couldn't find any damn tutorials that made sense. You or some other modeler should try writing up a basic tutorial for the newbies to get started.
