A bunch of guys gave background stories to their characters. Personally wouldn't mind the return of the Roleplaying Section, but many people here don't go old school anymore, and I think most would just mess things up for those who'd actually want it (pretty damn rare to see).
The old ezboards had a crapload of threads about background and stories and roleplaying.
just wondering, what's the "basic" mc:c story? lol. maybe if finals dont bog me down (ill be done this time next week, *sigh*), ill work on something =)
Forgot most of the Daragoth lore... Four major "deities" worshipped: Urdual, Pathos, Torkalath, and Felewyn. Pathos is the main deity. Urdual is balance (note the black and white halves of the Temple of Urdual in Edana). Torkalath is more or less chaos (as Tradion explained, not necessarily evil), and Felewyn is more or less order (again, not necessarily good, just commonly percieved).
Felewyn is the mother goddess of the elves, who I thought were modeled more after Japanese (in terms of architecture and maybe culture). Basically, chaos fights order, and when one side gets too powerful, balance comes in and reorganizes it. As for races, there's the typical ones: humans, elves, dwarves, and of course the orcs, trolls, and boars... (oh wait). I don't believe hobbits exist, or fairies, but you can never be too sure.
Other main evil characters are already in-game or have been in-game (i.e. Undamael), including the more recent bosses (which I don't know the lore to).
My main character from back in the day was a half-elven ranger named Ramacor te Luna (Ranger of Light in Lanethan Elvish), who served Felewyn.
Lanethan had like a 10 page fiction based on his character (he was an Apostle of... Pathos?) and the Daragoth lore (he did create it after all).
I'm sitting on a standard Texas-sized sh*tload of the stuff - however, I dun have Lanethan's specific permission to distribute it. The background story for the world of Daragoth is actually quite involved.
J_M posted a bunch of links not too long ago. Maybe he'll oblige - but I'd need Lanethan's permission. If I got it - I'd like to paste it all into the Wiki too.
so could i in theory add new things (albeit minor, im not making my story about Felewynn's nephew Tom who is the god of the trolls lol), as long as they were person-specific and not really changing the general plot of the universe.
another question, will we ever get the actual gods in-game anywhere? thatd be rad, even if rare.
well...i dont think so, since in the lore i've read they basicly all agreed to not directly interfere with the world anymore...EXCEPT THE LOSTMAN!!! LEWL HE SHAL PEWNZ JOOZ!!1one!11!!!!1eleven!
That was the first place I went to look for Lanethan's lore. He usually has it for everyone to read, but I guess over here it wasn't really such a big deal till recently.
The deities, afaik, could never be present in any human form, that's why we had Apostles (the devs), who would delve into more lore with us with Dynamic Quests and other stuff.
my fanfiction concepts that brewed in my head while eating luscious goodness at chili's was mostly just a generic coming-of-age story about schmuck #1, but set in the MSC universe. id love to get my hands on the lore of the lands though, as it would definately help me with the realism aspect.
Hmm... MSC used to have a fanfiction?? That sounds pretty cool... albeit I just realized that I've seen virtually none of the background story concerning MSC -_-
If its'n'bits could be released on moddb or something as a teaser, then people might begin to feel more attracted to MSC (therefore more players)
