Hi
So here's what's going on:
I had taken a vacation for 2 weeks earlier and ever since I came back, I've been getting problems. Most common ones have been these:
1. When Im playing in a server, after a while I lose connection and after that the server doesn't respond to me anymore. Like if Im playing in a French FZ server, once I lose connection to it, all 3 French servers stop responding to me. I tried every way to bypass this and join the server again like connecting with IP throught console or... but it doesn't work. And its really annoying.

2. When Im playing in a server, after a while my game starts freezing. By which I mean every 10-15 seconds my game will lose connection for 5-10 seconds. Also sometimes when this is happening, I get kicked for channel override. Even if there are 2 players in server (including me).

Do you know any way to fix this? I've tried reinstalling msc but it didn't work. I've turned off my Firewall but it still keeps doing this. I've restarted and reseted my Router many times but still it doesn't work.
I really love this game and I can't keep having this problem everytime Im having time.

Thank you for your time. Hope you can give me some tips.

PS: My friend told me a few things about turning "rate" to 20000, cl_cmdrate to 60 and... but they didn't work.

Whatever this is, it sounds like an issue on your end, probably related with your internet... Try playing other Half life mods in multiplayer to see what happens, or other games.

Sounds like you just have a bad connection to the server in question... Though "channel override" is a new one on me.

I doubt it's the firewall, but, when you say you "turned off your firewall" do you mean you turned of your software firewall (eg. Windows Firewall), or you set your router to DMZ mode? The former isn't likely to have much of an effect, though the latter is probably overkill for client connection problems.

As for console variables and configuration, etc, that you can check:
- Check your Steam->Setting->Downloadsd and see if the indexing changed your connection type or region.
- Go to console (~) and...
- Check cl_updaterate is in a reasonable range (~100)
- Check that cl_cmdrate is in a reasonable range (~100)
- rate and cl_rate should be ~20k and ~5k, respectively
- ex_interp 0 (auto)
- fps_max 999
- cl_cmdbackup 6

...and, of course, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and check your Task Manager to see if anything is eating up CPU/bandwidth it should not.

I've had similiar issues before of ths kind, but didn't get disconnected from what i remember. Just overall random lag spikes every now and then.

I would contact my provider asking on a status report to see if the connection is stable/normal or not. It's what i did years ago, they said it was an issue on their end and it would return to normal after like a day or two.

It could even be something that you installed recently causing these issues.
