New PC and IP

My- umm, our computer has been infected with a virus and suffered an insane amount of damage. It's taken me over 50 tries to get the computer started and even more to just get on the internet. I'm almost ready to do a system recovery and delete everything I've got on here along with all of my parents files (which have been backed up as they're not likely to be infected).
Most likely...our computer will still be screwed. I'm not going to go into detail as there's not much left of this thing, but will getting a new computer (and IP) cause any problems with me using my FuzNet characters or will it be a simple matter of reassigning the address?

Edit THREE!- FInally done. It seems like it worked. I wont really know until I try something that I have proven to crash the PC (MS:C) Or for that matter, any of my games, watching videos, and particularly taxing flash sites. The only bad news is that my dad is still set on buying me my own laptop. He's pretty convinced it's all my fault :roll: Ah well, at least now I wont have to worry about my mom downloading toolbars and seekmo updates...or my brother browsing Russian music sites for free downloads...
Ok. I'm going to get the best gaming laptop best-buy has Ain't no stoppin' me now.

FN characters are saved by SteamID, so what IP you have doesn't matter. Good luck with yer computer and such.

As long as the important/sentimental things are backed up you could just reformat.

Also, as long as blasto gets your new IP in an im and you just reassign the fuzznet information when you reinstall MSC, you should be fine.

Ok, thanks. Good thing Steam has all my purchases saved etc. Hmm...does Steam operate by IP? I know it's possible to log in on other computers but would I be able to download all my games on to it?

Yes, with no limit...At least for the games made by valve, I've heard nasty stories about others, though.

Alrighty, that's good to hear. Most of my games are Valve. I have Dark Messiah but I was smart (dumb?) enough to buy the CD from the store and not make an online purchase. I'd heard about Steam doing BS things to accounts before I.E. Never let another person use your account
