hey my little brother installed MS and instead of having a health bar a stamina bar and a weight bar he sees a buncha numbers both the flash light icons and the HEV suit icons whats wrong "and the background of the thing is black .... what can we do to fix this?

Yup, so no need to install the Steam patch over v1.35, you'd only be wasting your time...



Anyway, about your problem, I can only think of reinstalling, sorry... maybe somebody else - Thothie... or Thothie, maybe Thothie though - knows what to do.

That there sounds far too screwed up for me to fix. I'd delete the whole MS folder and reinstall, as something's gotta be seriously wrong there...



There's the autoinstaller, inside ye zip file, that I keep linking, might help you (or at least make sure it's installed right):

Note: If you're only getting this blank screen when connecting to some servers, it maybe the servers issue and not your own... But with the half-life icons... hmm... Only other thing I can think of is that you are trying to connect to an MS server from inside Half-Life. Don't do that. Right click on the Steam icon in the system tray, click Play Games, and double click on Master Sword. (Or, if using the autoinstaller, you can simply double click on the desktop icon it creates.)
