I found it in the list of accepted FN maps, but I can't seem to find the map itself through the forum or on thothies ms page.

Any idea where I can find it?

You'll will have to wait till someone hosts the map on the server.

It's FN approved, but it is a *borderline* cheatmap, IMO. Just a storm of orcs designed to accelerate training. If not for the creativity involved, I'd just axe the thing. It serves as a good baseline for just how close we'll let you get to that sort of thing. But I don't support it via hosting.

IMO that map should be expanded, like another arena behind that door, maybe swamp ogres

Ye tis a bit odd how the whole omgwtf cheatmap thing works as. I mean most of the maps comming out now are just
kill move kill move kill move kill move someitmes a button or an npc then kill move kill move
you get to a boss you over power boss with ether lots of people or just a high lvl char then reward.
I remember when the official cheatmaps were less haxables. (gauntlet anyone?)
D:
Just look at lostcastle , it had 9 (or was it 12 not done it for so long) always spawning mana pots and various other items on top of the cash from the monsters you killed iirc back then you could sell a mana pot for as much as 750 in helena you do the math :/.

Maybe just me but i can get out a crappy weapon and slash away at those orcs for ages and it is refreshing as I know that i get nothing for it. If i die so what no super lvl 1337x10^99 boss heals and vaporises the world i lose some gold and carry on.

Sure i get the whole monsters are easy to get and kill and so on even the people who like to jsut spam magic at them but in what map can you not just do that?

ok ok I'm done sorry guys.

Should point out that everything you mentioned there is a result of exploits caused by flaws in the scripts. All potions were one-shots when the treasure layout was designed on Lostcastle, and couldn't be sold for more than a gp or 2.

Difference between Orc_Arena and the real maps is that all the monsters in the map pop up at the exact same spot, all at once, in a nice tight little cluster, just waiting to be nuked by whatever you want to throw at them, with no way to defend themselves, and they do this over and over again, rapidly.

The closest offenders to that are Orc Place, which you at least have to work to get to, in addition to it being hidden, and Foutpost - but there the monsters are setup and spread out in such a way they have a chance of defending themselves, in addition to the lobber rain of death on the later waves.

Now if the beasts in Orc Arena came at you from multiple directions, were spread out, and if you had a bunch of troll lobbers in the stands with insane range, and similar such, it might be closer to a real map, but even then, you're not required to go anywhere or do anything, all your food is instantly delivered, sort-to-speak. Tis McDonalds fast-food XP, vs. dine-in. Only real reason to play it is to get fat in a hurry. ;)

All fair points. Just I would say that as any person has the abillity to move and the monsters 'usually' move in a set path its not hard to jsut get spread out monsters into set areas , heck on most maps put down a few poison clouds and you can run in circles without any real trouble.

If you have the abillity to take out all of the spawn in one hit then chances are you would be better off in another map doing somehting worth while as im sure even the combined experiance gained from those orcs would not be worth it.

The main thing was to just make it fun , I wanted to see if I personally at the time could survive it I used to get boxed in by orcs and the firetraps would kill me in an instant and the lobbers unless you get right on them would blow me away in 2 hits.

As for the script errors though i wasnt awear of that . as they cost so much to to buy i concluded that was intended. ack.

There's just no other maps with such convenient concentrations. If you stick to melee weapons, it's still a bit of a challenge, but you'd still gain XP faster here than anywhere else, and if you use the AOE spells, its just a pure XP farm. Poor buggers are lucky to even hit you.

Meh, damned marketing bugs and those pots. I'm half-tempted to go back to the cheap, one-shot pots, but the main reason we went to the more-expensive multi-use pot, was that too many characters were having overflow issues from stacking up on pots. Item limit would cut down on that, but it makes having to carry hordes of pot even crueler.

Plus we get this bugger with the strong pots where they tend to break half the time now... Can't figure waddup with that.

It's because the "Am I out of juice" detection happens after you're able to put it away/drop it. Next time you try to use it, the pot is all like "WTF I HAZ NO JUICE!" and is broken

Wasn't that a FUN explaination?

I've had fresh ones, that I just found, fail to function...

Meh, seems the bit where it actually records the drink is in the hard code, I'll have to dive into that.

Is the random-dose generator maybe just failing?

(If there is one, I didn't think ALL pots were pre-determined)
