This may not be a good idea... my mind just hatched it the other day.

Here it is... The Axe of Balance could be smelted for a large amount of cash to be turned into the Ore of Balance. With the Ore of balance you could then spend even more cash to put it into any of the classic old Great Axes to make them more accurate.

Such as...
Blood Axe of Balance
Greater Thunderaxe of Balance
Unbreakable Golden Axe of Balance
(Not sure about Great Axe of Balance)

Can't think of any others at the moment, but this would make money have another use. Also, I have been told that the Axe of Balance isn't fantastic, so this might make it capable of being part of a chain that leads to an amazing weapon.

If this is a bad idea, just say what makes it bad please... and if it is a great idea, say what makes it great :)

I don't know if the Axe of Balance will be used, but the sorcburg blacksmith is supposed to upgrade/make new weapons.

I like the idea but i'm pretty sure it would end up being rated as "overpowered" by other people. But there could always be some small changes added to the forging between this idea you got, like +70% balance and -30% overall dmg.

Hmm, maybe they would be overpowered... but the Blood Axe of Balance would be like blood drinker with more damage, no toss ability, slightly less accurate, and much harder to get. Greater Thunderaxe of Balance would beable to pull damage that might beable to compare to Bear Claws because it would be around 30% chance to miss and like 300-500 (without reduction) damage per hit at lvl 30ish. The Unbreakable Gold Axe of Balance would be an amazing weapon for fighting undead and you wouldn't have to charge it up all the way to full to actually do damage.

All of them would require atleast 30 in axe handling.

Edit: Hmm I was really hoping to get some more comments to help me refine my idea... refine... baba-ching!

I guess this idea wasn't worth commenting on for a lot of people.

I take it that it was actually a bad idea. Sorry for wasting your time.

Right.

What this game needs without a doubt is a system to make the Axe of Balance more useful. The best way to do this is to make it smeltable by paying large amounts of cash at a city such as Deralia. This would make you recieve the Ore of Balance. Once you bring the Ore of Balance to a Priest in Deralia, he will hint that he knows what to do with it, but you have to help him with something. After you come back and give him what he wants he then tells you to go to a priest from Gatecity, here you will beable to spend a very large amount of gold to beable to enchant one of the 3 great axes: Blood Axe, Greater Thunderaxe, and Unbreakable Gold Axe. The enchanted axes will recieve a large accuracy increase and the level requirement to use the weapon will double.

With these changes, the Axe of balance will prove to be useful in the long run, help the economy, and add more variety in useful items at high levels.

Double requirements would be really bad for greater thunderaxe, its 20 right now, and you unlock charge attacks a few lvls later... If it was double, it would be lvl 40, and to unlock more charges you would need to go to lvl 44 possibly to have its full potential.
Making them lvl 30 and 35 wouldnt be bad though. It's a decent goal and achievable with some patience, getting 40 axes right now is a pain in the ass, cant begin to think how it would be getting lvl 41-45 for extra charges.
Also i pretty much like this idea, and if you are thinking its a bad idea, you are wrong.

Thanks for the support.

Very good point on the Greater Thunderaxe of Balance. 35 axehandling would make sense because this axe would just push more dps then all the others.

I think we should also be able to use the Loreldian ore and have a blacksmith smelter it with other weapons too.

I don't normally bump threads like this, but I really think this idea should be implemented into the game. After thinking about it for a long time I have drawn the conclusion that it wouldn't be unfair/overpowered.

This would put axes significantly higher than what they are at currently, but not passed Bear Claws in dps, not passed Blood Drinker because of the throw ability, and not passed the Tork bow because of its good range, speed, and AoE damage.

Not to whine to try to get my way or anything, but the Axe of Balance is far too hard to get for what it does.

The specifics of this idea are less important to me, but I am definitely in favor of giving super rare items like loreldian ore more than one use.
