Is it possible to shrink the player size in MSC like what the Eternal Silence team did? It would give MSC the mmo feel and allow the maps to be gigantic in size.

ESF also did that. But that would make maps a lot more complex, and allow for them to contain a lot more entities, which would add to the instability.

We can't even keep our maps, which take up, on average, less than 1/4th of the available space, stable, so creating (effectively) even larger maps would be insane, to say the least.

You know, I would just want the player size to be shrunken only on maps like thornlands to give it that large world appeal.

Maybe you didn't notice what I wrote first. If the maps get larger, more entities would be required to populate the map and whatnot. Even with insane area optimization, it would be highly unstable. In short: Larger maps --> more entities --> moar crash.

The entities can be more evenly spread out rather than just putting them all in one spot.

That doesn't help a lot, since they are still thinking, causing stress on your hardware and on the game.

Unless you're planning to do "Shrinkspell Thornlands" (with really huge boars, and really tiny players), the maps would be a hell of a lot larger, as far as the server is concerned, in terms of resources, entity count, model count, etc. Thornlands only uses about a third of the available space as it is, if that, so there'd really be no point anyways, save for a good laugh.

So why do people want to play as midgets?
