Was steam closed when you installed?

Doesn't MSC 1.1 install in an awkward location by default?

You'll need to punch in the location of your half-life folder.
thothie.com/ms has a "Steam finder" you could use to fetch the location.

Only install the libraries if the maps don't patch right. Patching maps == must, but it won't affect the game showing up on Steam.

Is the <not available> in the filepath your doing (to hide your account), or is it really like that?

Either your MSC is not where it is supposed to be (in which case, move it to where the installer points to), or the registry entry that tells the installer where Steam is, is corrupt (in which case, reinstall Steam).

Not if you install it in the same folder it is currently residing. (Right click on Steam shortcut->Properties->[button:Find Target]

You'll have to reinstall the game after reinstalling Steam, since it seems you have it in the wrong place.

Run the betapack installer as far as where it tells you what folder it wants to install to. That's where your 1.0 install should go. Copy and paste the path it gives into an explorer address bar. If the folder doesn't exist, keep removing folders from the list until you reach one that does, then create the required folders. Drop MSC 1.0 in that folder.

*sigh* If only Hummingbird hadn't abandoned us, we'd have an automated installer by now.
